Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Howell Township

I’ll start off by saying my wife and I have been to this location twice and twice we’ve had a bad experience. Our first visit they got our order wrong which we just chalked up to them being busy and really didn’t think it was a big deal but the second visit was enough to make sure we stopped coming here all together. Upon arriving with my wife and dog I went in and asked the gentleman behind the counter if I could bring my dog in, he said yes(which wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know). So I waved my wife in. Immediately we were met with attitude and a condescending tone from which we would assume was the manager. In a very aggressive tone without even greeting us she immediately said “you can’t bring THAT dog in here.” Before we could even acknowledge what she said or reply to her she walked to the back as if she only came out initially to be aggressive and rude to us. We have given this location more than one chance and were disappointed both times. Definitely would not recommend and will not be...

So disappointed. My son is leaving for the Navy on Monday so this week has been all about visits to favorite restaurants and places before he goes. Rita’s was on that list. We ordered our items, which was a struggle to begin with and when we did finally get our order I noticed that one of the items had not been fully filled. I asked if they could add a little more custard - to which I was told “it’s fine”. Meaning what I had was what I was getting. I was rather disappointed with the customer service that I received, but wanted to avoid getting upset, unnecessarily or creating a scene, so we left with our food. When I got home, I could see that I had not overreacted. One of the items clearly has less product than it should. 2 have less product if you compare it to their marketing for the product. The ones in the middle are perfect so not complaining...

Warm, very friendly service. I took my young daughter tonight after her school gave her a free Italian ice coupon to use. The coupon had the address of the old Rita's in Regal plaza on it, which we discovered wasn't there when we went. We then proceeded to this Rita's and inquired if the coupon was meant for this location, as my daughter literally received the coupon a couple days ago and I couldn't find another Rita's in Howell. Karen, who I think is the owner, said it's a different owner who used to own the Regal Plaza Rita's. Despite this, she ended up giving my daughter a free Italian ice because my daughter had been so excited to get and use this coupon, which prompted our trip there. Karen didn't have to go that extra step for us, she did though because she saw the situation from my daughters perspective, which was so sweet. It was also a great customer service gesture- we will...
