Seems like a decent concept but execution is a little subpar. Had dinner there the other night and the price:portion ratio is noticeably off - unless you're into paying extra for the privilege of eating from a tapas menu, I can only recommend going here once to say that you did. Veggie options are pretty solid, we got the parsnips and the green goddess salad; both very well prepared. Charcuterie board leaves a little bit to be desired but the chorizo is great. "Mustard" is literally just soaked mustard seeds, would be nice to have them even slightly crushed. Meat shared options seem to be really hit-or-miss. We got the rabbit ragu, Mississippi brisket, and the (hangar) steak. Ragu was tasty, but the tomato aspect seemed more undercooked than I would've expected which made the dish be much more acid-forward than I think a lean meat like rabbit can handle. A more rich tomato base would do well here. Brisket was the star, even if it is just an upscaling of the low country "Mississippi pot roast" recipe that has made its way into the culinary zeitgeist over the last decade or so; still delicious, incredibly tender, but I'm not really sure why they felt the need to still include the whole pepperoncini. Hangar steak really was a huge letdown, though. Asked for rare and they happily obliged, was amazingly tender as expected. *However*...in roughly 1/3 of the portion there was an inedibly tough vein of sinew that absolutely should never EVER be in a piece of hangar steak when prepared correctly. I would highly recommend NOT getting this unless the kitchen can show you they have learned how to successfully divide a hangar steak and trim out the very obvious sinew separating the two pieces of the hangar cut, otherwise you're paying $25 for $15 worth of food, which is a complete waste. Desserts are delicious, again, if slightly overpriced; got both, the banoffee pudding (right, in attached photo) was better than the carrot cake (left) but ymmv depending on tastes. I'm a longtime Hudson resident who's been out of the state for a couple years and has been impressed by the emergence of a food scene along main street. I just don't know if this place is a step in the right direction. If they can fix some kitchen issues and find some more attractive price-quality points on their menu, definitely has potential. I was here while visiting family and probably won't be back until later this year at the earliest; hopefully they can find their groove by then.

My experience at The Wild Hare in Hudson, MA, began with high expectations. I'm in the Boston area for business, and I adhere to the mantra of "work hard, play hard." This place came highly recommended after a productive day, so the bar was set high - perhaps too high after my visits to Boston's downtown fine restaurants and bars earlier in the week. I was invited for dinner, and what a surprisingly delightful dinner it was. The dishes, despite their humble origins, were crafted with the precision and creativity of a seasoned chef. Having spent time in northern Italy and west Croatia, the nearby Austrian peasant-inspired dishes, presented in an American mac & cheese variant, transported me back to my childhood - absolute perfection. The totally unexpected Caprese salad variant, featuring peach instead of mozzarella over a ricotta spread, was simply brilliant. It was a refreshing and innovative take that I hadn’t anticipated. However, my choice of pairing the meal with beer tasting sliders was a slight overkill - that was on me. A good, simple red wine would have been a much better choice. The staff at The Wild Hare works tirelessly to deliver a top-notch experience, but their broad offering of café, kitchen, and brewery seems to dilute their identity somewhat. It feels like they're trying to do it all, which might be stretching them too thin. A strong call to the Hudson community to support this hidden gem is necessary. It was unjustly quiet on a Friday night, which shouldn’t be the case in a fortunate and cultured neighborhood like Hudson. This place deserves to be bustling with the good-standing and good-tasting folks who can appreciate the effort and quality being put forth here.
