Thought I’d try something besides First Watch this time after dropping my daughter off to daycare and before the day takes off.
I regret not going to a place where I know the food and service is great.
As I’m writing this- my teeth hurts because I bit into something sort of hard in my food. I don’t know if it was a really hard pepper grind or what but it hurts.
Anyhow, I ask waitress to bring coffee, water and OJ after waiting a few min to be greeted. She forgets the water and my coffee and oj is never offered a refill. She asks me what kind of creamer I would like- hazelnut or half and half- I say hazelnut - she brings half and half.
The food I got, the southwest breakfast bowl had a little spice to it… I was waiting for her to ask how it is so I can ask for some water. I wait to get her attention where she’s laughing and talking to someone at the bar… she finally looks at me and I ask for some water. She says okay- not the most friendly or anything. At this time her bar is not too busy, I literally just asked for the water and she goes and talks to someone.
I’m eating this food with some salsa and stuff without a drink- I finally get another server’s attention who brings me water.
After her manager walks by and asks how is everything my original server finally gets me water and sees I got it from someone else and asks if she got it for me and then apologizes. First time I get a little customer oriented service and niceness. She says she’s been brush training someone but they were not extremely busy at all when I asked for water.
The prices overall were more expensive than ihop and First Watch so the service should be better as well.
The service was bland like the food. And I’m glad the manager likes her staff- after she asks me how is everything with a smile (it’s great she has a positive attitude but you can’t expect people to say terrific just because you ask with a smile)- I say it’s okay… she proceeds to talk to the next guest and ask how everything is and tell them she’s great and can’t complain and you got to be grateful for life and she has the best staff.
Not sure if this was because it was assumed that just because I didn’t respond that I was having an awesome time- that I am a miserable person. I happen to love food, self care, my me time, going to restaurants and started out in sales and leadership management in restaurants- I’m absolutely grateful for life. This place just needs work- from the greeters to the servers, bar and food. I haven’t paid 15% tip in a long time (usually a 18-20% tipper)… and honestly, it...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer at Toasted Yolk, but my last two visits to this location completely changed my view.
Day 1: I came in, pointed directly at the Salmon Eggs Benedict on the menu, and ordered coffee. Instead, my waitress brought me a completely different Benedict with bacon. I don’t eat bacon, but to avoid making a fuss, I told her not to worry, peeled it off, and ate the meal as-is. I still tipped her nearly $20—more than my food cost—and even bought a branded coffee cup that same day. I let her mistake slide with kindness.
Day 2: I returned with my kids. I ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict again, and my daughter ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict. My plate came out correctly this time, but my daughter’s poached egg was undercooked and not prepared properly. On top of that, our waitress never checked on us once. I had to flag down a completely different server just to get a coffee refill. When our actual waitress finally came back, she was dismissive and had an attitude when it came time to bring the check. I left her a note and a small tip because she didn’t deserve more after ignoring us and serving food that wasn’t prepared right.
What bothered me most was the management. After these experiences, I told the manager to pull my job application because I would never want to work in a place that allows this kind of service. Later, when I called to explain, I was told the first waitress from Day 1 claimed I had an attitude. That’s simply not true—I went out of my way to be polite, didn’t make her remake my food, and tipped generously. Instead of listening, management brushed me off, rolled their eyes, and acted like I was the problem.
The real issue isn’t just the servers—it’s the leadership. Poor management sets the tone, and that’s why staff feel it’s acceptable to dismiss paying customers and send out undercooked food. Not all employees are bad, but the ones I dealt with reflect a lack of training and respect.
I left feeling disrespected, ignored, and unwelcome. I won’t be back, and I don’t recommend this location to anyone who values good service, properly cooked meals, or basic respect...
Read moreI brought my brother who is active duty military and visiting from Italy to this spot I wanted him to have a great first experience, but instead, we left extremely disappointed due to the service we received from our waitress, Barbara.
My brother ordered a Bloody Mary but did not like it after the first sip. It was still completely full when we politely asked if it could be sent back. Barbara told us it could not be comped and immediately became visibly annoyed. I don’t understand why he had to pay for something that was full to the top only a sip was taken. From that point forward, she had a poor attitude toward our table, never checked on us, and was clearly ignoring us.
We observed her standing and laughing with other servers, rolling her eyes, and lingering in the kitchen area where we could still see her. It took 20 minutes just to receive our check, and then she disappeared for another 15 minutes before bringing it back behavior that felt intentional given her earlier reaction.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand that customers can sometimes be difficult and that mistakes happen. However, this was a very small request handled with unnecessary hostility. I have always tipped, even when service wasn’t great, but in this case, the attitude and lack of professionalism made it impossible to justify leaving one.
This experience was deeply disappointing especially since it was my brother’s first visit back to the US. I hope management addresses this so other customers don’t have a...
