Disappointing Experience at Los Cucos for Our Wedding Vow Renewal
We chose Los Cucos for my wedding vow renewal reception, expecting professionalism and attention to detail based on our contract and discussions. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing.
The day of the event, we arrived at 4 PM, just an hour before the event was scheduled to start, and found that nothing had been set up. We were told the area would be set up so we could add our decorations for the event. They didn’t have any information that was set up in the contract for the event regarding number of guests, table arrangements, and linens. Tables and chairs were not in place, and no decorations had been arranged as agreed upon. My daughter and son-in-law, along with our photographer and other non-staff attendees, had to scramble to fold napkins and arrange the space themselves. They also had to help place the silverware and tables. This last-minute chaos was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Even with my daughter and son-laws help the area was not ready until 5:10 so all other guest had to wait to enter the area.
We had been assured the back nook could be used for the wedding cake, but it was filled with storage and trash that was only partially hidden behind a wooden partition. When we asked for it to be cleared, the manager refused, despite prior assurances in the contract.
The table layout was another major issue. Instead of the agreed-upon arrangement, the tables were set up in an awkward U-shape. This layout made it difficult for guests to navigate the room, and the bride and groom's table was oversized and ill-placed. This left very little room for movement and created a cramped, disorganized atmosphere.
To make matters worse, the staff couldn’t locate the remote for the TV we needed for our slideshow and music. It was only thanks to my son-in-law’s quick thinking that we managed to set it up using the single button on the TV itself. The Los Cucos staff offered no assistance in resolving this issue.
Overall, nothing from the original contract was honored, and the experience fell far short of what we paid for and expected. We met 3 times prior to the event to confirm details of our contract. I was even contacted at 11am the day of the event to confirm our arrival time. During the phone call I specifically asked if the area would be set at 4 for my daughter to set up decorations. Yet, when my daughter arrived it was as if no one knew there was suppose to be an event. We had paid for the event room for 5-9pm and left around 7:40 because it was so cluttered in the room due to seating arrangements. They tried to charge us extra stating the event was set up for 50 people despite the contract that we made a month in advance being for 45 people. Very disappointing that Manager Samatha and Caroline would not uphold the banquete rental agreement contract we signed a month prior. If you’re considering Los Cucos for your event, I strongly urge you to...
Read moreBelow average food presentation, texture, flavor and quantity. Uncomfortably loud music. Negligent table service.
Food was not the worst ever, but far, far from the best and really less than average. The cheese enchiladas were the least flavorful I have ever had and had an unappealing texture. The rice seemed overly moist or wet and seemed to have set up for a while and had become somewhat mushy. The refried beans, as basic an item as they are, were not very desirable and only had a few specs of cheese on then. The quantity of food provided was less than traditionally received at all, and I do mean ALL, of the other Mexican food restaurants I have been to their my lifetime. The cheese chip dip itself was not at all creamy and had a less than desirable flavor and was a waste of money.
The others with me agreed that the food they received was very average at best, especially for the price we paid of nearly $100 for three people, including two margaritas.
The table server was very unattentive. He was young and likely not very experienced in the workforce or service industry. I mostly remained with an unfilled glass of tea through most of my meal. We had to constantly seek out and get someone's, anyone's attention for some amount of service. However, our server did provide constant attention to the table next to us, but even when we made eye contact that displayed a need for service, he simply looked away and went on about checking his cell phone or focused on serving the table next to us. We also made eye contact with at least 2 other employees who walked by displaying a need for service. They simply looked away and went on about their business.
El Refu down the street puts this location to total shame, offering better food, greater quantity, excellent service, and better prices, however, really loud music on the weekend night making eating there unbearable. Las Palomas just up the road also outshines Los Cucos in all areas of service, quantity and quality of food. Jose's in the Highlands also destroys this location with incredible, homestyle, South of the border, rich and delicious Mexican food in quantities that leave us seeking a wheel barrow so we can be rolled out to our car once done stuffing our bellies to the gills. Jose's even beats El Refu and Las Palomas.
I will never return to Los Cucos on purpose. I found nothing satisfying about the food, service or experience. In spite of the poor service, we did leave a $20 tip. And my hope is someone will mentor the table service provider so that he may grow, improve and...
Read moreI have been patronizing Los Cucos-FC on a consistent basis since the day of their opening years ago. I have seen all of the changes from day 1 to now (initial Mariachi band, couple who sang covers/Karaoke, to the extremely loud DJ, no longer accepting credit card payments for online orders, etc). As such, I’ve seen all of the staff changes (remember when the twins worked there) and have come to know many of the outstanding staff, even with turnovers throughout the years because I order very frequently, several times, each week since they opened.
Most of the changes, I take in stride. When the FC location stopped taking online orders paid via credit card (due to fraud), I absolutely hated this changed, but rolled with it…..again I’m a “order several times a week for years” customer. However, this recent change that you have enacted last week of putting to-go orders IN OPENED TOP PLASTIC BINS whereas people can walk by hacking, coughing, sneezing, while spreading germs while walking past the food in (sometimes not closed all the way containers) is just unacceptable. The plastic bins look tacky and ghetto for such an established restaurant. Additionally, the opened plastic bins DO NOT keep the food warm in addition to the germs of people walking past coughing, hacking, and sneezing past the food in the open plastic bins; again sometimes the containers are not closed all the way. I would much rather have the food placed in plastic bags like before and kept behind the counter…..there has to be a better way. I’ve been a long-time customer of LosCucos FC and In spend ALOT of money there each and every week since day 1. If the my to-go orders are not placed back into the plastic bags, instead of the open plastic containers, I will stop patronizing this location and will give my dollars to one of the many other similar restaurants in the area who do not have...
