The breakfast looks good doesn't it? NOT! I would have loved to give this place a five-star rating but let me break it down to you on why I could not give it a five-star rating. Table for (1), Oct 27th @2:15pm The front desk host Elizabeth took my name and number down and told me "it would be a 30 minute wait". Unfortunately, I wasn't seated until about 3:30 p.m. smdh 😡. Elizabeth completely forgot about me. When I walked back into the restaurant, I asked Elizabeth (how much longer do I have to wait, because this wait was supposed to have been only a 30 minute wait, which is way over that time). Elizabeth asked me what was my name, I pointed to my name on her seating chart paper. She had already started a new page, and had to turn back a page to see my name. She stated "okay I'm going to sit you as soon as someone get up". I was furious, but I politely told her thank you, and walked back to my vehicle. 10 minutes later, I decided to make a phone call into the restaurant asking for the manager, the manager gets on the phone, I explained everything. He asked Elizabeth what happened with seating me, Elizabeth decided to lie by stating "she just called my phone when a table was ready" smh, Elizabeth! you know darn well, that's a lie. This girl needs a lot of training still. The manager told me to come back in, in 5 minutes he'll have a table cleaned off and ready for me. I get into the inside, Elizabeth looked at me, then walked over to the manager whispering, with a smirk smile on her face. The manager told her where to sit me. Instead of Elizabeth walking me straight to my table, she yet again had me standing and waiting to be seated. I kept my cool because I was hungry Lol, And because I have already waited this damn long just to eat.
Finally sitting down to order my food approximately around 3:45 p.m. I was hungry, and came with an appetite. And was planning to order food to go. Mostly everything on my plate which is in the picture you see was horrible. I freaking love French toast, but those French toast right there, was hard as hell. The only thing that gave that French toast some type of flavor, was that blueberry sauce you see on top, and the syrup. If those French toast did not have that blueberry sauce or syrup, someone would choke off them French toast. They need a better cook that knows how to make French toast! 🤦🏿♀️ French toast supposed to be made (eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and sugar. Mixed all together, once mixed all together, dipped the bread back and forth into the mixture) This is the basic way of making French toast! They gave me the bottom of the barrel left over grits. Those grits was lumpy/knotted and hard, the cheese wouldn't even melt. I couldn't even eat it, and I wasn't going to eat it as soon as I put my spoon in to move the grits around, it wouldn't even move. Why serve customers these type of grits, and hard bread?? if you don't have fresh food, just don't serve it. I was disgusted. Those potatoes though, was fire. I really enjoyed my potatoes, I just wish they'll give you more than that little tiny bowl. That (blueberry sauce) that was on top of my French toast was so good. My tea drink my waitress made for me, was absolutely amazing!! thank you charm!
Charm is an amazing waitress! She was very kind, kept a beautiful smile on her face, had amazing energy, and was very polite. I made sure to let her know that I was going to leave her a good review for being such an amazing person.
I did not catch the manager name, but he was also very polite. I love how he worked the room with making sure that his customers got everything they need. And he was busting down tables, sweeping the floors. He wasn't a manager that just sat back and watched everything, he actually helped his team with also engaging with the customers. I love that. Please Mr Manager, don't allow your cooks to serve food that is not fresh. Teach them how to make French toast! 😂🤣😂.
Despite of my horrible experience, I am open to giving them another try. I'll go early, hopefully things...
Read moreI waited to post this review because I didn’t want it to be an emotional review. I went to batters and brunch when they first opened. The food was great the service was great and the prices were reasonable. Fast forward 6 months later. Now they are more popular and with that came issues with service. My husband and I wanted to go and have breakfast since we were kid free. So we called ahead to check the wait. We were told it was an hour wait. He didn’t want to wait that long so I called back to see if they did to go orders, I was told they do but the order needed to be placed in person. Which was fine bc we live 2 min away. So I immediately went up there by myself. I get there and the host asks how many in my party. So I’m a little confused because it’s not packed and she’s wanting to seat me right away. So I asked her is there not an hour wait? She says no, I can seat you now. I said well they lied to us over the phone and said it was an hour wait. So she asks again of I would like to be seated and I say no because at this point I’ve left my husband at home. So I proceed to the back of the restaurant to place my to go order. Prior to placing my order I ask the waitress why I was told there was an hour wait when in reality’s there wasn’t. She tells me they just look around the restaurant and make a guess on how long the wait is. Which is a terrible practice because it’s completely inaccurate. So as I’m looking at the menu there are price discrepancies and when I asked for clarification I was told the price would be the most expensive price. Also the first time I came I got the blueberry waffle and it came with eggs, bacon, and sausage. This time it only came with just the waffle and it was extra to get the eggs, bacon, and sausage. At this point my second experience is becoming worse by the minute. So AFTER placing my order she tells me it takes 30-45 min for to go orders. That should have been said PRIOR to me placing my order and paying. So I go outside and wait in my car. 50 min go by with no call saying my food is ready so I go inside to check. She goes to the back and comes back to tell me it will be 5 more min. Another 10 min go by and here comes my food. An HOUR for to go food is outrageous. Especially when you said 30-45 min initially. And on top of that the order was incomplete. There was no remorse and no empathy. I received just an “I’m sorry” and walked away. I asked to speak with a manager and she was taking so long to come out I ended up leaving because it wasn’t going to be a nice conversation anyway, I was too upset. There food is good, I just wish they would get there prices together and...

Came for a midday (12 noon) mid-week meeting with business partners. The place was packed inside; every table was occupied which was a surprise. This is a black owned business. The owner was present, however, did not make rounds, greeting patrons as I’ve seen with other small businesses. Owner was observed being attentive to one person in the restaurant; not sure what that was about.
Atmosphere: Quaint. Minimally decorated. Had a hostess who acknowledged my presence upon arrival. Appeared to be mostly people in their 20’s - 40’s patroning. A few families with children were present. There is outdoor seating (in front of the business on the sidewalk) with canopies to provide some shade. They appear to have a coffee bar.
Service: Waitress was polite. Had to flag her down a few times for refills and condiments as she appeared to be busy with other tables. Someone (Hispanic lady?) stopped by to check on us about a half hour after we were served and plates removed.
Food: Seemed freshly prepared. My order was wrong and I was told I would be charged extra for an add on, however, no price was communicated as requested. We had breakfast and lunch plates. Omelette was well portioned and soft. French toast appeared “coated”. Side of grits were in a condiment sized bowl. Pesto was great!
Qualms: Our party of THREE requested separate checks, however, none of us were presented with a paper copy of an itemized bill as customary before settling. Instead we were verbally quoted an amount and asked to pay via the POS machine the waiter held. We each paid then upon requesting/reviewing a paper copy of each receipt (one pictured), I noticed an unexpected, unexplainable “service fee”. I appreciate transparency. Patrons should be made aware of additional fees ahead of time; we weren’t. The only thing I saw was a mandatory 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more printed in the bottom corner of the menu. Party of six was not our situation. Is the service fee the mandatory gratuity?
Furthermore, a party members invoice was $24.12. They paid with $40 cash. The waiter asked if change was necessary. (Really!?!). When change was provided, it was $15 cash, not the $15.88 a calculator or cash register would’ve said is due back to the customer. Is that theft? Batters & Brunch, please know that integrity matters. The waiter missed out on a tip reflective of the overall experience due to the missed opportunity to communicate. Either way, I’d encourage you to get an itemized bill BEFORE paying and count your change should you choose to pay with cash. I hope this...
