First and last time eating here. After reading quite a few reviews I decided to give this place a try being that it’s a lot closer than Charlotte to home. From the outside you think it might be a good little hole in the wall place , but unfortunately it wasn’t. We got a order of gorditas and sopes , and 2 sides of beans. I thought i was going to get some Mexican food but it’s more South American which is also good but not from this place . The gorditas were quite small and lacked any flavor , chicken literally tasted like nothing no seasoning. We were hoping the sopes would be better since they looked quite good but unfortunately the were bland with same no taste chicken . The beans I was expecting refríed beans but the are more of a soup consistency and have a flavor I never had before and it wasn’t that good in my opinion. Fonda el Paraiso in Charlotte is the best Mexican authentic taste we found so far and it’s definitely worth the drive. I wish I could say better for this place but save your money and drive to Charlotte south boulevard and find some decent authentic Mexican/ Spanish food the have plenty...

There are those places where you can go for a bowl of warm tortilla chips and salsa, get a hot burrito covered in cheese and red sauce and a “fresh, house-made” margarita for lunch. The air conditioning is on point and the mariachi music is at the perfect volume to make you not want to stay longer than 30-40 minutes.

Las Meras isn’t that place. It’s hot! No air conditioning, maybe because it’s winter. Your torta can come with a side of tortilla chips but why bother when you can have fries or plantains? What you get in exchange for air conditioning, endless chips, okay burritos and margaritas is an enormous torta packed with various meats, cheeses and the freshest avocado I’ve seen on Charlotte.

This place will feed you good food with the right spices and meat combination, and none...

Tried it last night.1 word describes the food AMAZING. Best hole in the wall for traditional Mexican food. I'm sending my husband for more today.

Update* One thing worth pointing out is, they're not the friendliest. I made that observation with my husband when he came back from getting more and he agreed. We both went on separate occasions and he felt the same way. Dead stares from behind the counter, not one smile shed no matter how hard we both tried. They seemed pretty miserable tbh. The young man at the register is nice though. Took a star because customer service is important to us, we put up with a-hole customers all day and treat them like we want ourselves...

Come here for AN AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE!! The food is delicious and one of the VERY FEW MEXICAN RESTAURANTS I EAT AT!! Very accommodating staff, the food is so good and taste like real home cooked Mexican food!!! I can’t stress how wonderful it is, the vibes from the staff to other customers and there’s a gas station near by if you want snacks and to broaden the variety of drink options you have!! That being said order the Horchata bc why not & I ordered the Gordita which is shown below but the TORTA & Popusas as well as tamales are also spectacular!! Try the whole menu because here there’s something for everyone!! Necesitan ir a comer aquí la comida es auténtica y deliciosa !!!

This is definitely a hole in the wall place. Next to a gas station. Food was good, my barbacoa torta lacked seasoning and was very flavorful. The flautas were of carne asada which was a first for us and they had cheese inside. Those had a little mote seasoning and tasted better. The alpastor tacos tasted nothing like alpastor and didn't come with the traditional pineapple salsa topping. We were disappointed with those. My daughters loved their pupusas though. So all in all it's alright food. Still not as authentic as we were used to but I'd go back. There are 4 tables only. So if you want to dine in you may be disappointed. It is a very busy place.
