Irassae — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

I had an amazing time dining at Irassae. The restaurant feels small and lowkey, wait can be quite long if going at peak hours on the weekend. Vibe of the restaurant is intimate and not very big; it's bustling and busy.

Tried 3 rolls, the Ghost Roll, Next Time Roll, and Ichiban Roll. Where the restaurant shine is the freshness of the ingredients and the fish to rice ratio. The sauces are delicious and generous. Ghost Roll is a seared Albacore Roll with a spicy ponzo sauce that compliments] the smokiness well. The Next Time Roll is creamy with the fattiness of Salmon, paired with a decadent savory sauce. Green onions pair well to cut down the creaminess. The Ichiban Roll is perfect for anyone who loves the buttery texture of Scallop, enveloped with a generous amount of salmon.

I liked that all the rolls do not require any additional soysauce, the amount of sauce drizzled on each is abundant. I also like how they gave a ton of pickled ginger. Additionally, the variety of sushi offeered was decent; they had bluefin tuna, softshell crab, scallop, and even other fish that isn't super common at every sushi place. My wife and I purchased a home a couple blocks away from this sushi place in May of 2013 - When we discovered this through some local friends, we have been going there almost once a week because it is so damn good! We have done allot of traveling and have yet to find anything to compare. Yes, I understand it is basically 'California' sushi and not traditional Japanese sushi; that being said... The sauces they use on the sushi are amazing and really work with each dish. There are a few items not on the menu that you must ask for by name - each one having it's own distinct flavor accompanied by an amazing sauce/oil combination. Horrible service! Came here to take my girlfriend for her birthday and customer service was a 0! Wanted to switch a roll because it tasted like cheese and i allergic . the roll was not what i had in mind and they took it back and just brought it back to me and told me and said they couldn't switch it! So i didn't even get to eat food and paid for nothing! Super bad customer service. F this place! Owner only cares about his money and is selfish. Never coming back. Make sure you guys no exactly what your ordering-unless u want to get scammed. Btw menu has no pictures or description of food so u have to rely on...
