I'm editing this review since the owner has responded to it. Unfortunately add this business to the list of other far-right places you'll never want to associate yourself with in HB like that Italian restaurant down the street. Pointing to Gracey's advocacy work but ignoring that she was investigated by the Anti-Defamation League, has referred to black people as "colored people", and thinks books about the LGBTQIA+ community is "grooming children". Unfortunately you make your shop political when you start creating displays supporting politicians, I really wish business would just stick to their lane. The advocacy work is great, but the company kept is terrible.
Original Review:
I won't consider returning to this place until it removes its display with a card supporting Huntington Beach City Council member Gracey Van Der Mark.
Gracey has a history of denying the Holocaust and associates herself with Proud Boys, a hate group. Her first act as part of our city council was to attempt to remove books about LGBTQ issues as well as trying to defund our Huntington Beach library.
Either this coffee shop supports a bigot who divides our community, or at the very least are blind to what she espouses and should do better before promoting politicians in their coffee shop.
We used to come her for cinnamon rolls because we thought we were supporting a nice local coffee shop. Now we'll drive the extra 5 minutes to The Donuttery...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of working with Moonwood Coffee to cater our mom’s surprise 70th birthday party and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. From our first interaction, Alecia (co-owner) was incredibly responsive, clear, and easy to work with. She replied to emails promptly and made the entire planning process stress-free.
We visited their shop on Adams to sample their coffee offerings and when we told Alecia that mom is partial to Colombian beans, she gave us a whole bag to sample and said they will serve it on the event if she liked it instead of their house blend! She also suggested having a drink custom made for my mom which was such a thoughtful touch. Their pricing is competitive, and they offer a wide variety of options that can be tailored to your event’s budget and venue.
Even though Moonwood Coffee works with larger clients like school districts, we always felt like a top priority. Alecia made sure every detail was handled with care and attention.
On the day of the event, our barista, Cameron, arrived early, set up ahead of schedule, and stayed through the entire event. The coffee was outstanding—every guest commented on how delicious their drinks were!
As a family of coffee lovers, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Moonwood Coffee to anyone looking to elevate their event with a quality coffee bar. Thank you, Alecia and team—we can’t wait to book...
Read moreWe had Moonwood Coffee and Bakery bake two cakes and host a cake decorating "class" for our daughter's 13th birthday. Alecia was responsive and easy to work with, and with general direction on what my daughter was looking for, she and her team member Jessica made two beach-themed birthday cakes and put together a decorating experience for her friends with the same theme. Alecia and Jessica arrived to our house early, had all the supplies the kids needed for about one hour of instruction and decorating and each of them took home a delicious and beautiful cake. Alecia taught them how to pipe and had them practice, then walked them step by step through a beach decoration for their cakes. The kids had a lot of fun and enjoyed working with Alecia and Jessica. Separately, we've visited the Moonwood location on Adams and enjoyed the coffee and baked goods. We had a great experience, thanks for making it a special celebration! (Photos of the small single cakes are samples of those made by the kids in the class. The larger cake is Moonwood's...
