It should not be over $20+ to get a vegan breakfast bagel. I paid for avocado spread too and when I got home it wasn’t even on the sandwich. I understand rent and inflation is bad right now, but I could make 10 vegan bagel sandwiches at my home for half that price. Meat is more expensive than vegan mock meat anyway, so I don’t know why I’m charged $20+ to sub out different meat and cheese. I didn’t get egg obviously, so why would I pay beyond full price for a sandwich that doesn’t have all the ingredients they normally charge for. Also, they didn’t even put a full beyond patty on the sandwich, they sprinkled small pieces around the bagel. You guys have a vegan chili, why can’t you put a vegan breakfast sandwich on your menu for not an astronomical amount of money. My boyfriend paid over $10 to get his meat/egg breakfast sandwich. They charged $2.50 to put it on a bagel. Honestly it’s laughable. We couldn’t even enjoy our breakfast because we were aghast. I really wanted to like this place because they offer vegan and gluten free options but yet again I am disappointed by the vegan “taxes” that businesses charge. We spent $40 for two coffees...
Read moreThis place is a fantastic, unique, comfortable, cute little neighborhood spot. I actually love it even though, especially with my work schedule, even though I live in the neighborhood, I don't stop in very often. Today was my second time in. They have nice seating along the wall, which is cozy (I'll bring a friend of mine in for hot drinks sometime for our catch-up session).
The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because this is my second encounter with a gentleman who I think is the owner/co-owner. Both times, I've been greeted coldly with almost an indifference. (The people at the register and coffee bar were great, greeted me with big smiles and were welcoming).
Hopefully this spurs at least a reflection on this gentleman's part.
Thanks for having such a nice place in the neighborhood! Hope to be back, and hope to be greeted with a welcoming smile! These are challenging times for everyone and the least we can do is reassure each other that we're happy to see each other, face to...
Read moreFirst a foremost, Monarch has DELICIOUS coffee. That’s not up for debate. The location is also very nice on the inside.
Now to the review. I came in because I wanted breakfast and to treat my SO. I ordered us both some coffee. Ordered him a lunch sandwich and I wanted a vegan breakfast sandwich. (Note* the website states that they have vegan options and so does the board in the store.)
When I get to my vegan order I asked about a vegan southwest burrito. I was told that none of the wraps or breads are vegan. But they could make a bowl. I said ok. You guys, I had maybe 2-3 table spoonfuls of food. I am furious that I paid $15 for this when I should have just stayed home.
Lastly, there was one man working the kitchen. Bless him because it’s a Saturday. But I waited 40 mins for this. Also, my coffee was made 30 mins before my to go order….so obviously my coffee is cold. Great start...
