Chava's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Huntington

Guided by my hunger. I ended up at Chava's. It wasn't as busy as my first random choice. I asked a couple leaving the restaurant if it was any good. Their answer assured me it was worth a try. I was instantly greeted at the door and led to a basic booth. Not overly promoting a Mexican restaurant decor. The waitress was there to get my margarita order. It was there as I returned from the restroom. Along with the obligatory chips and salsa. I decided on the the chicken burrito that featured avocado. When it arrived I noticed a lack of avocado in the first few bites. The waitress inquired how I liked it. I asked about the avocado and was immediately brought a full, neatly sliced, avocado. Nbd. The burrito was delicious. I ate the whole thing. The margarita was also very tasty.the overall experience was good and I would recommend it. As well as go again. First time I went I liked the food, so I came a second time, ordered a quesadilla with chick3! Lettuce and onion, they brought me one with no chicken. Took the waiter 20+ minutes to even check on us and when I told him he forgot the chicken he showed me what he wrote annoyed and claimed I didn’t say chicken when in reality he didn't hear me or forgot to write it down, trying to blame it on me. Took my food back and when they brought it back basically someone shoved a few chicken pieces in and jalapeños which I don’t like nor did I ask for, and microwaved it and the tortilla was completely soggy and wet. Was so digusting I took a few bites and couldn’t eat more. After messing up twice I said forget it, wasn’t offered a discount or a free meal etc, left with no tip and paid for a meal I didnt eat and probably won’t trust...

After reading reviews I have wanted to try this place for months. My son was hesitant because the outside didnt look appealing to him. Finally today I convinced him to go with me. We were both in heaven with the chips and salsa. Then on to the appetizer we had the beef enchiladas. Quite possibly the best I've ever had. For the main course I had the dinner special and albeit I'm a big eater and loved every single bite, I had to get a to go box. The waiter was top notch. He was friendly and happy and seemed to enjoy his job.

In conclusion, don't judge a book by its cover. I had high expectations going in and still left feeling dazzled. I will absolutely be enjoying the food here...
