We paid them $1,600 to cater our wedding, from the moment we booked with her ( a full business, restaurant and all) we had an agreement to be at the venue at 1:30. She did not show up at 1:30 so we attempted to call and text her multiple times the day of and she did not respond until 4:14pm AFTER the ceremony. She was sent the address, the county and town multiple times. She messaged me at 4:14 and told me she was 13 minutes out, she messaged me another time at 4:38 saying she was there. She was in Fayetteville. 3 counties and 2 hours away, 3 hours late. From that point on she quit answering, finally my husband got her on the phone and she said she would refund us. So naturally we had to find a way to feed everyone at OUR WEDDING 1 hour after we were supposed to eat. So we had to pay another big amount of money to get food catered. We were understanding that mistakes happen, until she quit answering all text and messages to begin with after we were supposed to receive our refund. She made a post on her business page selling the food we paid for, so of course we commented on it that we paid for that food and still have not received our refund so she deleted our comments and finally messaged me back saying she will refund us Monday, Monday comes no refund. Still haven’t heard from her, so we comment again and she gets mad that we are leaving negative reviews on her page, simply stating we have not been refunded for her not showing up to our wedding. So she messages me telling me she does not have our money and that she has to request a loan from her bank to pay us back. So we tell her we will have to file a lawsuit because it’s getting ridiculous at this point. She just got back from vacation to Florida with possibly the money we sent her because she admitted she doesn’t have it and that she used some of our money we sent her to rent a car. Now multiple days later she still is not answering text or calls, she has only refunded us a short amount of the money. But she is making post on Facebook saying we are leaving bad reviews and saying wrong things which are leading to people commenting terrible things about us.
She still has our money, no contact has been had when she was supposed to sent us money at 5pm.
in her post she made, she says that she did not leave her house until 1:30 knowing she had to be at the venue 2.5 hours away AT 1:30. So there is no excuse, it is ridiculous on her part and we are over trying to get our refund back. You do not go off of your time when you are being paid on someone else’s.
All around they are poor planning and unprofessional here. I do not recommend...
Read moreI bought food here for the first time today, so I can only give a limited review of the menu items. First, it’s a really a horrible, hole-in-wall BUILDING & location—- it’s a 1-woman-run take-out-only place, so no one in their right mind would normally even go there— HOWEVER— I read many on-line (Facebook mainly) reviews— and I have NEVER read BETTER reviews of ANY other restaurant! People were giving it 5-stars! Everyone raves about this place, so I had to try it. Well, now it’s my turn: No.1: the food was GREAT. No.2: the AMOUNT they give you for the money is outrageous! Fully enough for 2 big meals for 2 adults! Any other restaurant would charge DOUBLE for this amount of food! I actually felt guilty and I walked back up to the drive-through window. I said, “I’ve got a complaint— you gave me TOO MUCH FOOD!”—- and I handed Jo-Jo some more money! (She is a sweetheart lady for sure.) This place is gonna be SO successful that she will soon be swamped and she will HAVE to hire more help (I think only her son and her hubby help her now—?) — and of course, get a new location— with indoor seating, etc. No.3: You must understand that this is an OLD-fashioned COMFORT FOOD/ “Soul Food” joint—so— if you are concerned with how much sodium or fat or butter or carbs or calories that you eat— ?—-this is definitely NOT your type of restaurant! You have to forget that BS— this is just good OLD-fashioned southern cooking! It really wouldn’t surprise me if she is cooking everything in LARD— maybe that’s why it tastes so good—? What else can I tell you? I bought fried chicken, collard greens, meatballs, green beans, mac & cheese, and dressing— all were fabulous—just like my Lithuanian grandma used to make! I can’t wait to go back and try her seafood boil, pot roast and BBQ ribs— and anything else she makes! I guess that...
Read morePhenominal! Ordered the 3 chicken legs combo. Corn and Mac & cheese. Caned vanilla coke (rarity in itself) to drink. Maybe it was the bad experience at jewel city but wow what fast service here. Literally just long enough for the chicken to cook. Almost immediately served. Food was out of this world good. Actual southern fried chicken, skin and all. Crispy on the outsude juicy and succulent on the inside. I'm from NC and fried chicken and vinegar based pulled pork are 2 foods I take very very seriously. This place nails it. Best I've had here. Made me muss home. Better than Camden corner and that is saying something because Camden corner is top notch. But as good as the chicken was the Mac was better. Not simple but exploding with flavor. Thick and cheesy with flakes of pepper. You can tell love and care went into that. The corn on the cob was good too. Not a simple over cooked sweet corn on a stick like at KFC but good cooked until done, not over done, and with a dollop of mayo and seasoning. The hot sauce Truly was good but im not a fan of spicy to even with disliking the heat i can appreciate the flavor. Truly a hidden gem in huntington. Even for a "to go" place it does offer seats and didn't turn me away even though I was on foot at the time. The very attractive woman that took my order was very polite and very fast. Took my order, confirmed it (another rarity), and handed it to me in seconds. Highly recommended for...
