Well we finally ate at Huntington Ale House, and was excited about it. .Their was 4 adults in our party and we signed up to get on there wait list through Google. When we arrived we were met by their hostess. My wife informed her that we had signed up on the wait list and we were told that it would be about 10 minutes till we were seated. While waiting we ordered drinks from the bar. The bar staff was very professional and friendly. It actually took about 20 to 25 minutes to get seated. This is were the fun began. We were seated at a nice 4 top table. The waitress was quick to get to our table. She took our drink order and was off. After that she was a ghost waitress. We had to flag her down if we needed something or had a question. We finally ordered appetizers. Pork Nachos and Deep Fried Pickles. They arrived before our beer and cocktails did. We actually had to flag our waitress down and inquire about them. After about 6 minutes she brought our beer and cocktails. She said the bar order was never sent to the bar, and she apologized. Now back to the appetizers. The deep fried pickles were Breaded in panko, and were ok. Not very we'll seasoned and lacked a lot of dill taste. I don't know this for sure, but I would say that the pickles were a frozen product and not fresh. The pork nachos were really good, but the cheese was sticky and clumpy like it had set back up. We would order the nachos again, but probably not the deep fried pickles. Now Dinner. Me and my son ordered prime rib at medium temperature. My son ordered a 10oz prime, and asked for a side salad and baked potato with his. I ordered a 16oz prime, and asked for French fries and mac and cheese for mine. My wife and my sons girlfriend ordered maple chicken and waffles. His girlfriend asked for home fries with hers, and my wife wanted a side salad. After about another 30 minutes and getting our waitresses attention to get another beer our food started to arrive one plate at a time in 2 to 4 minute increments. My Sons girlfriend received her chicken and waffles as she ordered (home fries and entree). My wife received her chicken and waffles except for her side salad. My wife and sons girlfriend found the chicken and waffles to be exceptional and would highly recommend them. Myself and my son received our prime ribs. Mine showed up as ordered. Cooked to a perfect temperature and with my fries and mac and cheese. My son received his prime rib perfectly cooked to temperature and a baked potato. No side salad. He also didn't receive any butter or sour cream, and of course we couldn't find our waitress. When we finally flagged her down. We informed her that my son needed butter and that my wife and son did not receive their salads. She returned with the butter, and then brought my wife and son's side salads when we we're about done eating. She said that the kitchen ran out of lettuce and someone had to go to the store and get some. My wife asked if her and my son could get to go boxes for the salads since everyone was full. She returned with dessert boxes. The salads were very large and looked very fresh and appetizing. The manager came by our table and asked if everything was good. Myself and my son proceeded to tell him about our experience. He was very receptive to our needs and apologized, but did not comp any of our food or try to make things right. He did get us bigger to go boxes for the salads though. The food and drink cost me around $130 plus tip. There was a lot of positive, but more negatives. I will give them another try seeing that this is early in the post pandemic period and things are slowly getting...
Read moreMy wife and I took the kids to Ale house for the first and last time yesterday. We loved the atmosphere, and the fact the owner was walking around table to table, just talking to everyone and making sure they were having an enjoyable experience. When our food arrived the owner stopped by again to ask if everything was ok, to which it wasn’t. I had ordered loaded fries, which were plain, and our spicy honey tenders came out as plain tenders also, no biggie, mistakes happen. (Which the fries had to be redone twice, seriously, how hard is it to make loaded fries?) Then my, what was suppose to be a medium rare steak came out, it was amazing to look at, but cut into it and it was a very, very well done. I’m really nice about the whole situation but this turned out to be a 160$ meal for my family that has been nothing but messed up order after another. Well they get another steak out to me, but well after my entire family is finished eating. At this point I’m just ready to take a few rushed bites and just take it home, but after a few bites I’m just utterly disgusted with the quality of the steak. I’ve gotten cheap steaks from save a lot that weren’t as grisly and tough as this one. I honestly never complained once to the owner the entire visit. I just answered honestly when he would ask how it was going, but the last time he came to ask I was truthful, but nice and the owner lays all the problems off on the obviously new waitress he had, which was not accurate, he himself messed the loader fri remake up, not once, but twice. I didn’t want to argue with him so I just smiled and thanked him while all the time knowing I’ll never be back in his establishment. I’m fair, mistakes happen, and not looking for anything free. But on a 160$ meal for 2 adults and 2 small kids I believe a offer of some sort of discount should have been offered. A free dessert at least or even just a truthful apology and a promise to make things right the next time would have went a long way. We tipped the waitress well above 20% to hopefully brighten her day a bit after such a bad experience that wasn’t her fault, but because of the way the owner threw his staff under the bus when he made mistakes, and didn’t offer absolutely anything to try to make it right, I’ll never be...
Read moreI wish I could comment on the food at Ale House, but I never received any. Our party arrived at 9:10pm. We ordered drinks, including sodas and waters which came slowly, a beer which arrived at 9:40 and was warm, and two cocktails, which were delivered at 9:50. We ordered appetizers when we arrived and entrees a little later. Even after attempts to speak with the manager, we still didn’t see any food. One table near us, a fairly large party, was experiencing similar lapses in service. Meanwhile, another table was seated after us, ate, and was cashed out while we waited for our food. At 10:40, AN HOUR AND A HALF AFTER WE ARRIVED, we left cash for our drinks, cancelled our food order, and left. The manager’s incompetence clearly led to these system failures and the poor service we received. Our server was quite apologetic, but obviously powerless to remedy the situation. For the record, they were not particularly busy, just inept. I’ve worked in the service industry. I know bad management and bad systems when I see them. The manager of Ale House should be stocking shelves at Walmart, not attempting to run a restaurant, which he clearly can’t do. They might have the best steak and most delicious stuffed mushrooms in the state. I guess I’ll never know. I will never return to this establishment and I discourage anyone from patronizing them. Huntington needs good restaurants with competent staff, not epic...
