Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District — Attraction in Huntington

I made a reservation for Westmoreland park for Saturday, September 24th for my daughter’s birthday. I was called today (3 days before event) by Marie to inform me that they had another reservation that took priority over mine. Marie lied to me in the beginning by telling me my reservation was cancelled for nonpayment. There were payment processing issues when I made the call. Marie could not get the payment to go through. I explained I’d try to pay the invoice and if that didn’t work, I would gladly mail a check. Marie told me to not worry about it because of the inconvenience. Then she called today to tell me she was cancelling due to nonpayment. I reminded her of the conversation we previously had and THEN she told me another reservation takes priority over mine. I asked Marie why she lied to me about the nonpayment issue and she hung up on me. When I immediately call back, Heather answers and tells me Marie isn’t available. I asked to speak with Marie’s supervisor and was transferred to the voicemail of Cathy McKenna where I left a message. The very unprofessional behavior of a city of Huntington employee...

The 2023 Mickey’s Halloween Bash hosted by Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District was the biggest let down ever. So poorly executed, the venue did not even seem remotely big enough to host that many people. The lines were so atrocious, the staff for the event did not even know what to do. No one had a clue what to do with that many people, there should never have been that many tickets sold for the event in the first place. Drove 1 hr 20 minutes to take my son to this, who was hyped up for it for over a week, and could not even get him down to the event to see Mickey. Last time I will ever want to participate in any event hosted by this group again. We have had multiple events at St Clouds and loved it but Was going to have a surprise party on June 8th and had all invites already sent out and now all the sudden it was overbooked and asked to move to Sunday, impossible when the party planners work on Sundays.
