Harris Riverfront Park — Attraction in Huntington

5 stars for going there during the day time. If visiting on a day that staff isn't constantly around then you will have a horrible experience. I took my kids here to walk by the water a few months back and people were laying around doing drugs and shooting up on the benches. I have been back since. If you want to enjoy your time there definitely go while staff is there. They keep the area nice and cleaned up. While staff is there I've never had any issues. My son actually had a hurt finger and they went out of their way to try to find him a bandaid to make it feel better. Very friendly. Nice little Park area which has always been clean when I went. It's a very relaxing park and to learn about the animals in the area along the way is fun. There's also a book box which is always a hit...

Harris Riverfront Park is a great asset to the city of Huntington, however, it's hidden behind the flood-wall so it is easily overlooked.

There is a nice, small, playground plus a pleasant walking path with interesting placards posted that can teach you about local flora and fauna. There is also a new, small, skate park that has long been needed within Huntington.

The city is currently working on a public-private partnership for redevelopment around the park which should make it an even better place to hangout and enjoy the Ohio river.

It's a wonderful place to sit and feed the ducks, or play on the playground. I enjoy feeling like a kid, and probably look like a crazy man, but if there's any kids around, I wouldn't swing or anything, just because I feel they should enjoy it more than me. It's great for an evening to watch the sunset. When I worked downtown I would enjoy parking and taking my lunch, watching the river and enjoying the peace. It's pretty safe at night, and being a pretty big guy that could take care of myself, I still avoid being there alone at night.
