C.A.T. Cafe Bakery - Coffee, Art, Tea — Restaurant in Huntsville

We went on bingo night and it was really fun and family inclusive. They really take their time and make sure everyone is taken care of and the prizes are cool. The owners are sweet and personable. A few thing struck me odd firstly, the menu is there but you have to ask what's available because what's displayed on the menu....isn't what's actually available. Secondly, they have cookies and cash cookies? You can only buy chocolate chip with cash which Is kinda silly but I'm sure there's a reason? Third, When I went to pay the lady repositioned the screen in front of me and it was asking for a tip and she said " Now keep in mind we make everything in house" you're a bakery owner who is making cookies in your bakery to sell...in your bakery..so where else would I assumed you made them and why am I tipping you to make your own cookies in your own bakery...to sell in your bakery? I mean, I did tip but it was like...okay? Lol

Let's get to the items purchased. I purchased cookies and drinks and cash cookies and a loaf of some sort. The cash cookies were good and soft and had plenty of Chips in them, the salted toffee I believe it was had what looked like an animal hair on it, it was short and black but I picked it off and the cookie was very stiff but had a good taste you could just tell that it had hit the rigor mortis stage by the time I got to it. There was one described as "aromatic" it tasted like strait stove top stuffing 😂 not bad if you like stuffing. I actually recieved the heel of the bread loaf which I love but it was so thin and I was like maybe they just serve it thin but the lady next to me had a piece that was about an inch thick so I guess I just wasn't lucky. I didn't mind the heel but maybe thicker? Because I know we paid the same. I also got a brownie which tasted like a TV dinner brownie not bad though and they also heat them up so it for real tasted like a TV dinner brownie. I Like TV dinner brownies. I also got a boba drink and it was AMAZING that girly Cat can whip up a drink I tell ya! 8$ but that's pretty standard. The tea was good as well however there aren't any refills on anything except water so keep that in mind because us Texans can put down some tea and need ALL the refills! They were out of cupcakes on this day so I can't give a review on those.

The set up is kind of odd because there's not alot of walking space but there are rollable racks of clothes for sale in the hallway. I think they are for sale it didn't really say. You can take pictures up front with a jail style booking mural painted behind you. They do sell pictures of the jail up stairs but they are about 30$. You are not allowed upstairs to the old jail because it's not safe and the bakery does not own the jail its separate but still super cool. They are very open with the fact that it is haunted and how to interact with the spirits if you encounter them so,that's cool. I totally left with the heebie...

The owner is the sweetest and most informative person ever. Absolutely amazing recommendation. The best iced coffee ever; so smooth and brewed correctly. A true cold brew coffee. As someone from dallas that gets bombarded with boutique coffee and "Artisan" coffee, which lack the smooth and robust flavor of a cold brew that C.A.T. Cafe was able to do wonderfully. The layered lemonade and iced coffees are beautifully presented and have a flavor to match. Andres mint ice coffee has a beautiful balance of sweet and refreshing. Now the food. Martha Houston's white cake is amazingly dense with a nice light flavor and a beautiful almond scent. The cake is actually endorsed and supported by the local museum and an absolute local treasure. The same goes for their pulled-pork corn bread savory. It's beautifully moist and soft served with sweet barbecue sauce that compliments it well and rounds out the experience in a nice way. CAT cafe is both a cafe and touring area of an old jailhouse. I haven’t personally been to the tour itself but the cafe is pretty good. There is multitudes of teas, coffee, and lemonades that can tickle your fancy from mushroom coffee to Bubble tea and lattes . The drinks come with a little shot of extra caffeine if you want depending on how you feel which is really nice. The shop has tea samples that you can smell and look at to give you a reference of what you’re getting.There’s also the bakery with everything a big back could want (the desserts are sooo good I recommend the pinwheels and Martha cake!). The lobby is well decorated with paintings you can buy and even some little snacks and “Chill” gummies. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable on everything they sell which I really like.
