The first time we tried to get into Toasted was about a year ago. They did not have any directions inside about seating yourself or waiting to be seated, so we tried to catch a wait staff member's attention to ask what to do for ten minutes. When one finally did stop pretending not to see us, they told us that their internet was down that day so it was cash only. At that point, we left. I don't like giving restaurant reviews until I've actually tried the food, so we went back today. It is really a seat yourself place, a colleague told us, so we sat ourselves outside (it is pretty loud inside). We waited twenty minutes without a member of the wait staff noticing us (they pretended or just were really not aware of anyone else except the two tables out of many that they decided to serve). My husband went and got menues inside. Then, after ten more minutes of no service or acknowledgement, we just decided to leave. We were dressed fairly nicely, showered that day, smiled, and didn't act rudely toward anyone. The only reason why I can think that we were ignored was that we are in our thirties rather than eighteen, like most of the other patrons. It's pretty foolish to ignore people who are both going to tip well and likely to have the income to come back over and over again, but if this is the way that this restaurant runs its business, then we are definitely not coming back. Thirty minutes without any acknowledgement of our existence at a restaurant is ridiculous, even if...
Read moreOkay, so it's really cool to have a brand new restaurant that is unlike the commercialized mainstream of ihop, Dennys and the like. In fact I was excited when I found it! So the good: A few slightly unique dishes with creative titles to honor our Football team here and a simplified menu that is easy to read and order from. The ambience could use a little work, but overall not bad. In general the food is good at fair prices, you don't feel like you just got one HECK of a deal, but you don't leave feeling ripped off either, I usually leave with leftovers so that's definitely a plus ;) ABSOLUTELY LOVE the giant biscuits! The bad: Parking is awful and it's usually full, and then you walk in the restaurant and ther is like 6 people in there, I think students may be taking the spots. The dining room is really small, there is an area outside that I'd suggest they enclose to be honest. Everytime I leave my back hurts from sitting in one of the chairs, might be just a personal thing, but there are many different chairs and I'm always uncomfortable, and last but definitely not least is the eggs, the cooks there know how to cook a lot of good food but no matter how you tell them to cook the eggs they ALWAYS turn out runny yellow and white. I've been there probably 10 test and it's always the same, I keep hoping they'll get it right but they never do and eventually I end up ordering...
Read moreAbsolutely awful staff. We drove 2.5 hours to come have brunch; we arrive and see the establishment says that is is open from 7am-10pm, but a sign was on the door stating they were closed. I simply called the establishment for clarification; the lady who answered said, “no we are closed” and hung up. I called back, because I was confused by the signs and why she hung up on me. She then stated she did not hang up on me; I asked for clarification and she stated, “I said we’re closed.” I attempted to explain our excitement to try their establishment and the amount of travel time, however, she then interrupted me (in a very rude tone) stating “the kitchen is just closed”. I told her I did not appreciate her rude tone and she then said she didn’t want to deal with me and hung up. I do NOT recommend that anyone attempt to try this establishment. I attempted to call back to ask to speak to a manger to get the clarification I was seeking, but they put the phone off the hook so the busy tone remained and no calls could come in. Extremely unprofessional and extremely rude. Not the way you should treat someone who traveled from out of town to specifically try your...
