I was told this place was very good from a friend. Well we were in town so decided to check it out. First impression from outside was nice..walked in no greeting no nothing. As new customers I didn't know the routine but still no welcome. Place was decorated ok & lot's of space. No chips & salsa served had to order it..... That's a no no! I don't like being rude but the food was horrible. I should have taken a picture but I was in shock that it didn't dawn on me to do so. I am Mexican-American...born here with deep Mexican roots so use to authentic Mexican food. Though I try to not judge I give restaurants a try first and hope for the best. We had decided to order from the menu. Appetizer was guacamole which wasn't to bad again the chips were not very good they were all stuck so couldn't use well to scoop. I ordered the combination plate...1 enchilada 1tostada 1fried taco with rice & beans. As I looked over my plate I saw alot of lettuce so couldn't tell where the tostada was & beans looked like a pile of poop that had been overheated in microwave. Rice about the same no flavor & kind of mooshy. The enchilada was also overheated to being unrecognizable filled with thick yellow cheese that was greasy. Only item I fairly enjoyed was the fried taco. I don't how this place was before but as of August 2018 it just isn't any good. My respects to the owner's for being in this kind of business. As a Mexican I feel that if you call it Mexican food....that's what it...
Read moreI was visiting Hutchinson Kansas and a friend of mine had been telling me for the past 2 years that I had to try the Anchor Inn Mexican restaurant cuz I'm a huge fan of Mexican food. They have a little seating area outside it was a beautiful day so we decided to sit there. Michelle was our waitress and she was very attentive great customer service. The chips were flour and it did cost $3.00 but they were worth it. The salsa is homemade but with homemade salsa it changes daily depending on who makes it. Apparently today was not the best day. But my friend assured me that it is good. I did try the spicy sauce which was delicious I think people are missing out because the flavors are completely different then the salsa that comes with it so ask for the hot. I got the combination plate with Taco tostada and enchilada $9.99 they are flour deep fried taco and tostada and a flour enchilada but I asked for corn they had no problem accommodating my request. Each one was a little Bland for my taste but I think some places have to be like that because everyone would complain about something. Overall great customer service! And good food I would definitely recommend the Anchor Inn Mexican restaurant in...
Read moreLets start with... Its not bad. When I think of authentic Mexican food I'd prefer an authentic Mexican atmosphere. Their main entry is bright and glorious and first impressions make you excited to be there!! Then you are guided into a brown, musty room that resembles 60's diner. I get that its an old building and that definitely has some appeal to some people, but when strung up Christmas lights and the tomatoes on your plate are the only thing that has color in your dining area. This fact and that the actual food itself has little flavor... With that in mind their hot sauce is very tasty, almost drinkable, I happily poured the entire cup all over everything I had and enjoyed my food. I'd really like to say that the Food itself was good, however really its all about the sauce.
They have a mid day buffet that has these bland cheese wraps that are awesome to smother in nacho cheese and their hot sauce. If you are down town mid day and looking for a place to stuff yourself mindlessly to the gills with food. This is a fine choice. Any other time, I do not suggest this place unless you reserve a table in the main room where you have plenty of colors...
