I just picked up my food from Wens cafe. What a disappointment. I've eaten here before, the food is decent, but the service is substandard. Ordering over the phone was very difficult. When I asked if they had curbside available, I felt as if I asked the most preposterous question ever. She didn't even offer to let me pay over the phone., I had to ask, AFTER I asked her about the curbside option. THEN I got to the restaurant where I was corralled into a bunch of tables sectioning off a pick up area with a shower curtain hanging from the ceiling. There were no signs, directions, or anything explaining what the system was. I stood in this area confused for about 4 Minutes with no greeting of any kind. THEN the lady who I could barely see yelled across the restaurant and through the curtain for my name. I yelled back, because I could barely hear her o we the blaring music coming from the speaker just above my head in the corral. She then crossed the room with my food, dropped it off, and turned around and walked away. No hello, no thank you, no nothing. I understand we are in trying times, but from start to finish I felt unappreciated and not valued as a customer. My funds and company are very limited these days, and Chinese food is most certainly a luxury. To add insult to injury, she forgot something in my order,, and after I yelled across the room and through the curtain yet again, she irritatingly crossed back over to the corral slid my sauce across the table and stomped away. Once again, no thank you, no sorry, no nothing. As the cherry on top, my noodles were overdone. I try to limit my exposure when I go out, and I can assure you I will pass by wens cafe to get to T gins, or anywhere else for that matter. In this time where I hear "we're all in this together" 90 times a day, wens cafe failed that...
Read moreOne star is the highest I can give. Because I can’t give it without any star. I was very happy about the new Chinese Restaurant opened in Hutto. But I am very disappointed tonight when I go to the Wens. I have been to so many Chinese Restaurant in California. So I know how to evaluate a chinese restaurant. I want aske a question “what is a REAL KITCHEN,any body? Is that means the chef of the restaurant should make the food by using their hands, right? I order dumplings and egg roll every time when I going to a new Chinese restaurant, because I love them and you can tell if this is a REAL KITCHEN through them. Tonight I ordered the dumplings and couple egg roll. Very nasty. Very disappointed.I can tell the skin of dumplings is NOT HOMEMADE, it’s from SUPERMARKET. You can see it on any grocery store even in H.E.B. It is totally not HOMEMADE. Second thing, you can’t tell what’s inside the eggroll. I can’t see any cabbage or carrot even the chicken meat clearly inside the eggroll. It looks like a lump of unknown stuff. I am not picky. Think about it if you spend money, but the food is from some unknown food store, what would you feel,if any Chinese restaurant like this,so why don’t we just go to the Panda Express or Mama Fus. They are even cheaper. The waitress is nice. But it seems she can’t speak more english. Service is OK just SLOW. you need wait anything you asked. So I don’t recommend this place even it’s close my home. I am searching a REAL KITCHEN CHINESE RESTAURANT, a place I am at ease with. Anyone has...
Read moreUpdate: So it’s been about 3yrs since I posted my last review and felt that Wen’d Cafe should be given a re-evaluation. I’ve bumped them up from a 4 to a 5.
From my original post the owners have finally settled on a menu and I have to say it’s all delicious. We constantly go back to Wen’s for delivery and every single time the food is always hot. The food is always delicious and the price is still very reasonable. The delivery driver is always very nice and very prompt. The owners are always very responsive and friendly. I am looking forward to continuing to frequent this establishment.
Original post: The reason for the 4 stars is solely for the fact that the menu still shows items on there that are no longer offered. Owners if you’re not offering certain things on the menu take the time to white them out or line though them in the menu’s. Your customers will understand the line though’s more easily rather than look through your menu, order something, and be told that it’s no longer offered and then have to look through the menu again. Now that’s not to say leave the menu’s like that but once the menu has been settled on update it then. The prices are the same for the dishes just about anywhere you go, reasonably priced. The restaurant was clean, although to be expected since it’s still newly opened. The atmosphere is very friendly as well as the staff. The food on the hand was delicious and I am looking forward to returning at...
