Harold's Chicken Bronzeville — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I visited this location, I'm facing health issues and walk with a walker. I went to get our traditional Harolds meal for My God Mother who is 94, spend quality time as I am very sick my time is short. I read the reviews before I visited this location for the first time, but took a chance because we love Harold's chicken. I walked in and it smelled like old school Harolds. I browsed the wall menu and proceeded to walk up to place my order and it was a protective smudge glass fort wall making it difficult to see which side to talk to anyone . When my 👀 eyes landed on a person it was a light skin lady mean mugging me, she didn't say hi, how can I help you, I had to find her in the army fort 🪖 wall that you can barely see in. when I did see this cashier it was frightening. I said to myself this is going to be a Disaster🥴 But I am visiting from out of state to say my farewells to my God Mom as this may be my last time seeing her and I was unable to get to another Harold's location so this was it. I paid over 28 dollars for our meals. At no point in ordering my food or receiving my food did this lady who seems to have a lot of reviews on her attitude say a word to me. I am the one who did the greeting I am the one who said thank you and smiling. This lady was mean mugging me. Like I'm nothing and like I'm a problem. Yet im spending my time and money 🤑💰 here. She didn't respond in greeting when I said hi, she didn't ask how May I help you, she was just standing behind that fort dusty wall scowling at me. I get to my God Mom house with the food and OMG! Disappointed and sad. The Chicken was greasy and had an odd taste, the smell was Harolds but the taste was horrible. It had a bitter after taste. So strong I could not eat it and that's a first for me at any Harolds location I have ever visited in my 50 years. I got a mix order of wings and gizzards and 1/4 dark and a pizza puff. All old school favorites. The pizza puff was🤧 still raw barley cooked so I could not eat it, the gizzards coating was falling off greasy, the Chicken was greasy and bitter aftertaste. The only thing I can say positively is that the aroma was good it smelled like Harolds Chicken and the jalapenos were fat and good. But almost 30 bucks for a mean mugging rude attitude, raw pizza puff, greasy and bitter chicken, I would warn DON'T YOU DO IT! Um Um NOPE. I only do these kinds of reviews when customer service is extremely horrible and a waste of my time and money and causes problems. My precious time with my God Mom meal was ruined. I didn't say the chicken was not fresh but it had the most poisonous bitter taste to it, I truly was not able to eat it, the fries looked good but they were not tasty either. My Mom ate hers, she said it was not the best but she is 94 from the great depression era, she managed but I was not able to enjoy it. I say to whoever owns this joint to read your reviews, get the mean mugging cashier some customer service skills and be kind, it seems to rub off on your food because it was BITTER!! I knew it was a reg flag because it was a Sunday afternoon nobody was inside this restaurant. A Sunday!! Church folks are always running to get some chicken after service and Harolds would be packed! This place was empty!! and I sat for a long time waiting for my food and no other customers came in at all, Red Flag!! Then soon as you step inside it's a long table smack dead in the middle of the floor that has a rude sign saying. You cannot eat inside this restaurant or on this table 🤔 but why do they have a long table in the middle of the restaurant tempting people to dine? Why is it there, makes no sense and they have the nerve to put a rude sign up like the customers are a problem, this is a black community! we enjoy stopping in after church and fellowship with friends eating, tease with a table why? and then post a rude sign, you have a rude cashier and high prices. So they want us to visit again? Do They assume black people have no where else to go or that we are not worthy of respect and quality food They are Black...

This place is absolutely horrible.I will drive all the way to 73 th stony island to get my chicken from now on. The fool as a row outta the 4 wings for a heart with mouth sauce and black pepper.I got steroid wings . and it was cold after i waited 30minThe owner has a very nasty attitude. She not friendly at all her customer service skills is the reason why the restaurant is empty. I call to talk to her and tell her that my food wasn't cooked hard and she said NO refund. So that really tells me that she don't care about her food/ or customer's Because if I'm cooking for the public and they're not satisfied.Then my main goal is to satisfy the customer so that my business can grow .!!! And not to mention it smells like a(((( DIE RAT)))) .!!!! when I pulled up 2 young men were in the back smoking weed. Turns out that's the person that cooked my food and brought it to me. So on 4-22-24 I stopped by Harold’s to get me something to eat. I ordered 1/2 dark LIGHT mild sauce. The cashier said it will be 15 minutes I said cool. 15 exact my order was ready and I walked home with my order. I got home ready to eat my food and I’ll be DAMN my order was HORRIBLE there was so much mild sauce on the chicken AND the chicken thighs was still pink 😡 I called Harold’s and left a voicemail because know one answered the phone, I called again still no answer SMH ! I couldn’t walk back because I had my grand daughter and she was tired…So I didn’t get to eat my food PERIOD so I waste $13.23 on some food SMH…I decided to call Today and the person basically told me there wasn’t anything she could do and that I can’t give you anything..I still have the food and I was going to bring it back just maybe they could cook me a fresh order 🤷🏽‍♀️ obviously that is not going to happen…I basically just lost out, however I will...
