On my debut visit in the Year 2024,I ordered their "Southern Benedict" breakfast. That's Chicken Sausage,Biscuits,Egg,and Gravy. It was Fantastic.I had a male waiter that was actually on point bringing me my food freshly hot and not forgetting anything I ordered.I also ordered their delicious "Peach Palmer" drink in a plastic bottle and that was great too.On my subsequent visit a few days ago,I ordered their "The Big Bird" breakfast. It was two Halal Chicken Sausage patties,Duck Bacon, and Gouda Cheese in one of their delicious Biscuits that they specialize in.I had also ordered Scrambled Eggs hard because the menu has that as one of the side dish options. It also came with a Peach Compote.I asked the Iffy female waitress about the Coffee,Tea,and Cocoa drinks on the menu. After making it very clear to her that I was interested in getting Decaffeinated coffee from them, she said they only have Caffeine coffee,Lipton Black tea,and Swiss cocoa drink.I don't know which coffee brand they specifically use here, but more than likely you can most definitely afford to buy this GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) product also yourself at your favorite GMO local grocery stores already and infinitely ladies and gentlemen. It's NOT a secret NOR a revelation that these so-called "Gourmet" restaurants are NOT 100% Gourmet restaurants. They CHEAT all the time with GMO products we been purchasing ourselves very affordably already since birth. This is also the second "Black" owned business in the row that I have ever been to that I am just now finding out finally that they Don't have Decaffeinated Coffee.Needless to say, this is officially now a new pattern that I really don't like, period. The suspiciously forgetful female waitress was acting dumb like she literally forgot that I ordered Scrambled Eggs hard because she never brought me my eggs after fortunately bringing me my Biscuit sandwich hot enough.I finally asked her about my eggs later and she had that "deer in the headlights" look on her face very suspect indeed. How was she so forgetful when the restaurant was almost empty during a nice portion of my visit a few days ago????? I'll Wait............ She kind of seemed to be at least a decent person enough, but customer service wise she was too Iffy unfortunately and very shockingly.A male employee told me that I was going to be getting a discount because of her forgetfulness to bring me my scrambled hard eggs, but I NEVER got the discount ladies and gentlemen.I ordered their Strawberry Lemonade in a plastic bottle to drink and it was another saving grace for this restaurant actually.Their restroom was decent enough, but hot water doesn't exist to wash your hands the right way unfortunately.Comfortable bench seating and wood chair tables in the middle of the restaurant is what they offer you interior wise.Atmosphere wise but very shockingly,NO grating volume level of Abysmal noise that they call music these days very fortunately. The Inconsistentcy I saw between the customer service I received on my debut visit and my subsequent visit a few days ago was absolutely and totally unexpected.I literally thought that this was going to be one of the "Black Excellence" businesses that I have ever experienced more than once, but unfortunately that is NOT and never will be the case very shockingly. It Is...

I'm rating this as a previous restaurant manager and foodie.
So the atmosphere is awesome. Nice art. I like the bright color scheme and the chairs and booths compliment everything - 10/10
Service: 8/10 Our server was so sweet. She had pink hair, which I love! The only issue I had with her was she was too un-informed of the menu. I was asking questions about the food and she didn't know stuff. Half of the food for the table was brought out and I had to wait 8-10 for my meal. I was just watching my sister eat, but shared some of her dish lol. I'm assuming she new to the service industry, she looked very young. I would just advice her to know the menu more. But she did give up to go cups of the coffee. Once again so sweet. I also think it's good to ask customers "if it's their first time here," that creates opportunities to make suggestions.
Food: 7.8/10 Banana rum french toast: 9/10 It was very good. It was a little too sweet for my preference, but i would encourage others to get it. The only reason it's not a 10 is because I didn't taste any rum.
Soul Queen Salmon omelet: 6/10 I have a lot of issues with this dish It was bland. The plate was too busy. It's a side of capers (a lot of them), onions, tomatoes, triangle toast and tzatziki sauce (gyro sauce). And it wasn't complimenting each other. The sauce served no purpose to the dish. I don't understand why the onions & tomatoes wasn't added to the omelet. I would've created a caper sauce instead of placing it on the side. Trying to get all the sides on the fork plus the omlete was difficult. Capers were rolling of the fork, its just too much work for an omelet lol.
Peach coffee: 10/10 Ive never had peach coffee so I was skeptical. But it was very good. i had 2 cups, plus to go. Just a recommendation: I would serve vanilla creamer with it as well. We only got the original plain favor, but it still was good. I would stop by just to get the coffee!
Menu: 7/10 I love the color scheme and names on the menu. It was very creative. So many options to choose from. I love that.
The problem: The menu didn't mention everything that was on the salmon omelet. It only stated: salmon, green peppers and gouda cheese. Those capers, onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce (gyro sauce) wasn't listed, so I was surprised to see it on my plate. Anything that is on the plate should be listed. I could've been allergic to capers. I would've sent it back and now that dish is wasted. I work at a firm that sues businesses for stuff like that, so be careful. Also, I'm not a big fan of capers, so I would've chose something else on the menu. I didn't send it back because it was worth trying. The house potatoes was too seasoned- just too salty. I think it was just the batch I got because my sister had potatoes in her dish it was well seasoned.
Overall, I enjoyed my time. I live in the south suburbs (10 min from Chicago) and it was worth...
Read moreWhat is glaringly clear is that the workers are overwhelmed and over worked. When I arrived, I waited several minutes to be seated even though I was one person and saw available seating at the bar. The hostess sat a couple who I was sure came after me. That’s when I asked the hostess why and noticed she had incorrectly crossed my name off of the list. Perhaps the fact that I was into a good book made them assume I had more time to wait. She sat me shortly thereafter without offering an apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. I remained calm and pleasant.
The waitress immediately told me that waffles, as listed on the menu is no longer being served and then she added that they were out of shrimp and grits and about two other entrees. She waited for me to make another choice until she realized that I might need to rethink and readjust my expectations. I thought to myself, “It would have been easier to simply mention the few options that are available.” I decided to get coffee and the biscuits and gravy. The waitress assured me, “Good choice.” She didn’t return with my coffee until after I reminded her. She brought my food, “I’ll come back with silverware.“ I added, “And the coffee?”
I ate the overly salty gravy and biscuits. Perhaps it was an expression of how I felt, salty.
The waitress politely asked if I wanted more water. I did, but she didn’t come back with it. Now I sit here and write this review full of disappointment because the owner seems to have inadequately responded to other complaints of poor service. There was barely anything available from the menu and there were not enough employees to cover the demands of people who came here to support this business.
This review is for the manager and owner to improve the quality of services for this neighborhood by ensuring your staff is not overworked AND properly trained to serve the people who support your business. Though overworked and perhaps undertrained, the waitress was polite. She agreed to not put the coffee on my tab because of the wait. I imagine she had no idea of the other disappointments I experienced coming here or maybe she would have compensated the whole meal. I’ll leave my tip for these hard workers for this $9 meal, but I expect better, which is why I took the time to write the owner thoughtfully and thoroughly. I hope to tip your employees in the future because you will have...
