These guys seem like completely nice folks, and the spot was clean and low key. And those are where the highlights end for me. The food was the most mediocre Indian food I’ve ever had. Ever. I am accustomed to amazing Indian food in the Bay Area and that’s my baseline. I had butter chicken—(heavy sauce, but you can get way better from a jar or Trader Joe’s frozen food section), something that was supposed to be a riff on saag paneer (but was reddish in color) and soggy rice with what I had asked and hoped would be house made mango lassi. I paid $19 and change and left a tip. Way overpriced for the quality of the food and most of it, I didn’t eat. I took two sips of the mango lassi and threw the rest out bc it was like a milk water, overly sweet slushy—no yogurt or mango purée was involved! I think RC may have been a good place a long time ago, but with Covid and other things maybe they lost their sparkle. I’m hoping this review would kick them into gear to get back in that kitchen and cook up some for real Indian food. Other items I saw in their cafeteria style buffet offering didn’t look appealing. For example, the tandoori chicken sitting on top of hot water looked boiled rather than fired in or near a clay oven. I’ll stop at that. Just an aside: RC also advertises that they serve soul food—macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes and cut up greens, doesn’t give a restaurant a pass to be a soul food stop, in a weak attempt to appeal to the neighborhood’s AA community. You gotta come harder than that! All in all this is big...

FAKE DIRTY INDIAN FOOD - Hi, I decided to visit this place because I am an Indian and was in the mood for some Indian food. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone. Customer Service - The owner who I met in the front counter(older male) was horrible at customer service. I was late to pick up my order and like most places I assumed they would have it just ready and I had no problem taking it home cold since It was my fault for picking up late. INSTEAD the owner decides to snap at me and make a huge scene in front of his other customers for me being late to pick up the order. By the way the order was already paid for so I am not sure what the big deal was but he decides to sarcastically mock me in front of others. I was in shock because of his behavior. To be frank the guy is douche bag! I Food - I bought a whole tandoori CHICKEN and came home and opened the order and felt it seemed like it was not a whole chicken because the pieces were cut. I descided to weigh it and it was less than 2lbs of "whole chicken".RIP OFF BECAUSE I PAID ALMOST 16$ DOLLARS for a whole chicken and an extra leg quarter. Once I started eating the food was BLAND, NO TANDORRI FLAVOR BECAUSE IT WAS BAKED INSTEAD OF BEING GRILLED. These ppl sell FAKE WANA-BE INDIAN FOOD. CONCLUSION - I REGRET SPENDING EVEN A PENNY ON THIS GARBAGE PLACE because this place is a disgrace to...

The food was overall pretty good, the samosas were good and the butter chicken was too. The naan was just okay and the gulab jamun came cold which I didn't like. The real issue came with a huge lack of covid safety precautions and customer service. I walked in and saw neither of the workers wearing their masks properly and what seemed to be the owner sitting on his phone with no mask at all. I walked up to the counter and said "This is my first time here" hoping to get some guidance on how to order, etc. but I was met with silence. The owner was on his phone the whole time and didn't even acknowledge us. Usually, this wouldn't bother me much but the lack of proper PPE made me leave a review. On Thanksgiving, I also had the bad experience of placing an order with them, thinking they were open. They took the order online but never notified me they were closed. There was no info on their website, on their phone line or on the store front that they were closed for Thanksgiving so I was pretty upset that they still took my order anyway. I got not apology, just a refund a few days later.

I would NOT recommend going here if there is someone in your home who is high-risk for Covid-19. They don't seem to be taking...

Tried CHICKEN SAMOSA and MANGO LASSI. The samosa was savoury, spicy and tasty bringing the desi flavours on track but the mango lassi is as usual sweet and less natural mangoes. Preferred destination for UC desi community. Small place in a busy neighbourhood of the city of Chicago, serving the best Indian food. Although, the cost is not justified with the quantity but the quality is just awesome. Preferred location for people near Hyde Park area or the south side of Chicago and the northern parts of Indiana. Still have a lot of scope to improve. Expecting an outlet in the Downtown, where the real competition and choices of desi food lovers prevails.

Interesting mix of southern and Indian food. I expected there to be fusion food, but it's more that they have two separate menus with each. The lamb curry was fantastic. The chickpeas and rice were also very tasty. The samosa and roti were good dipped in the curries. for the southern food, the fried chicken and cornbread were good but fairly standard. the mac and cheese surprised me as being my favorite. the staff were friendly and the food (cafeteria style) was served instantly. i would definitely recommend it and i will be back.

Go to lunch spot in Hyde Park. We've never eaten there, only pickup/delivery. The combos come in these great boxes with main, side, rice, samosa, and paratha. Their tandoori chicken and lamb curry are soooo good. Chicken briyani (only on weekends) is also fantastic. I live for their samosas. Honestly, I've tried almost everything here (*Indian menu; not Southern) and they're all great. The Alo Gobi is really nice, and I love the flavor of the Alo Curry potatoes.
