Within 5 minutes of sitting down, the waitress dumped an entire tray of 4 waters on me. Literally immediately. They did a horrendous job of dealing with the mistake. Our waitress reacted so poorly that they just swapped her out for someone else.
I was absurdly cordial and didn’t make a scene because I was there with my girlfriend and my parents, but my God, what an awful way to start a meal. On top of that, they didn’t offer a single thing as compensation. Fine, don’t pick up the $60 bill for the table, whatever, I get it. But you can’t cover a guys breakfast after you dump an entire tray of waters on him? No compensation is embarrassing from the staff.
The young manager that apologized said “at least it wasn’t hot coffee or a hot bowl of shakshuka”. Oh dear, that may be the worst attempt at de-escalation I’ve heard. “Sorry I dumped ice water on you for no reason, could you imagine if that was hot and you burned yourself really bad?”
I want to give 2 stars because the food is middling (nothing special of course, it could be worse) and the third waitress they attempted to send was sufficient and kind, just dealt a bad hand.
But I can’t. Probably the worst customer service I’ve ever had. It was seriously laughable. Maybe if I was rude instead of overwhelmingly (like, almost condescendingly) kind, they would have taken it more seriously.
I’d recommend places with more...
Read moreI had been going to Egg Harbor for years when I would visit family in Villa Park. I love the atmosphere. I went into the restaurant for the first time in five years because we had moved out of state and have since returned to Wisconsin, and I was shocked at the change! While it definitely looks updated, it looks a little more cold and sterile. They took all the pictures down off of the walls of chickens and Farms Etc. I can understand with trying to update the restaurant, but put something on the walls to give it a little bit more life. I really did like the interior and the changes that were made, other than the bare walls. I just really think they need something on the walls. The breakfast bar is completely new from the old restaurant, and it reminded me of a 50s diner. The staff is all young people now as I did not see on a Saturday anybody older than maybe 30. LOL. It just feels like a totally different place. The overhead fans are on a little high, so it made it a little cool sitting underneath or near them. The menu was a little pricier than I remember. $70 for two for breakfast! As much as I love the old restaurant, I'm not sure I will make that a regular choice for...
Read moreLOVE THIS PLACE!! This is our FAVORITE breakfast spot (they only do breakfast and lunch)!! Great staff (don't be turned off because they're young), quick service and everything is fresh. However parking can be a pain, but worth the laps around the lot/area lol. Not to mention that you should be full when you leave so I don't mind the walk.
Everything I've ever tried has been absolutely delicious. The Chilaquiles, the San Antonio Skillet (always add avocado to mine), the Lobster Scrambler, ANY scrambler. The potatoes and pancakes are THE BEST!! Doesn't matter what I get, I always sub the English Muffin for pancakes instead. Love their flavored coffees of the day (even get a complimentary one to go and at the door while you wait to be seated) and their Strawberry OJ is so fresh and delicious. I personally haven't tried their Chicken Salad (too many different ingredients for me lol) but A LOT of people order it so try it if you like nuts and fruit in yours.
**Don't be intimidated by people crowding the doors waiting to be seated, not usually a long wait but...
