Nice little museum that is free to enter and very well taken care of. You can appreciate the architecture of the Glos mansion and immerse yourself in Elhurst history. I wish there was more focus on the German-Lutheran heritage and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, and how Melancthon Perochial (Now Elmhurst College) used to train men for the Pastoral Ministry in the German Evangelical Synod (which became a part of the Reformed Church in the 30s). I was looking forward to the church history that wasn't truly present besides a small blurb in a video and a few pictures in the upstairs exhibit. I guess I can't expect too much of church related history in a publicly funded museum, but it is such a large part of Elmhurst history I was a little disappointed. Read moreReally outstanding little place. They have such fun special exhibits. I mean fun! I really hate it when museums make political statements. This is pure enjoyment. We went to the fast food one in the past. Put smiles on our faces. I remember it better than most exhibits I’ve seen at the Art Institute. Today was the lost department stores. The parking lot was packed!!! There was a line to read all the exhibits. And that wasn’t a bad thing. Ladies were taking pictures of each other next to the exhibits. Very, very well done!!! And it was free! Naturally, we left a donation! I belong to quite a few of the Chicago area and organizations. PThis one is...

The depression Era exhibit had newspaper style printed posters so it felt like you were getting information by reading the newspaper. They have a period radio playing, and even some depression glass on display. They also had a food drive drop off. The canning display was my favorite. Large period "home" pressure cooker some cans and the sealer brought back memories of grandma in the kitchen. Looking forward to next exhibits, especially the upcoming Snoopy / Charles Schultz display. We plan to return in the future. ...
