Flew in from the east coast. Super early flight. By lunch time we were really hungry. Grew up in San Diego so out of habit tried to eat in Coronado....way too crowded, over run with tourist (Guess I am a tourist now). Drove down the road a bit and found this hidden jewel. Location great and easy to park. Nice drive, very relaxing....ocean view. Quick turn off the main road and about half a block onto the center parking lot. Not crowded at all!
Restaurant is brilliant. Lay out is really nice and comfortable, makes the best of great weather. Hostess was wonderful. Diners were a great cross section of people including some young Marines, tours, blue collar guys, families, etc. How cool.
The food was really good! We had burgers, and onion rings. Food was nice and hot, very flavorful. Menu is full of options. Prices were super reasonable. No long wait, seated right away at 11:45 a.m......lunchtime. Saw people getting carry out too.
Skip the chain restaurants. This is only slightly off the beaten path and well worth the few extra steps. Loved it. Great experience and a...
Read moreI just know that my wife and I dont want to go back. I never thought I was going to receive such poor service. My Chicken Caesar Salad was 2 out of 10, lol sad salad . Together we split very tasty coconut shrimp 7 out of 10. Wifey tried "spicey" Ribs but not a hint of spice at all, just sweet. She says flavor is 6 out of 10. I had observe the 3 guys who sat behind our table receive their beer and burgers before us, even though our order was placed about 5 to 7 minutes before they even arrived. I heard the server offer all refills yet we waited maybe 5 min, so I got up to get my wife's and my refill. I saw customers walk in to be seated but too many dirty tables, the only server there was too busy going to her car to find business cards, she was promoting her photography while taking tables, not a good mix. She also had no name tag. Very disappointed, if i wanted self service I should have gone to CBC at least they are a self service restaurant with a view of the beach ,average price unlike you guys.. Thanks for nothing. This was at 645...
Read moreKona Brewing Company beers on tap?! WOW! YES! I love Big Island, Hawaii, so when walking in here, it felt comfortable. I got to taste the Loco Moco where their style for this entree is to use ground beef cooked with onions and mixed with their gravy (e.g. a Loco Moco is usually cooked with the full hamburger patty intact! 2 over easy eggs are on top and we have GOLD! I also got to taste the teriyaki beef! Wooooo a bit of that with a bite of rice and a bite of the yummy mac salad - it’s a good balance. Their “Big Kahuna’s Cheesy Sticks” described specifically “garlic bread baked in butter and topped with cheese” I should have asked what kind of bread because what was served was a pita bread or pizza dough with cheese on top. It was okay but I don’t know why I was imagining something like the thick cheesy bread I ate at Mona Lisa’s in Little Italy. Anyway, this place is overall...
