Their pizza is delicious! It’s definitely some of the best I’ve ever had. The only thing I’d like better is for the crust to be thicker. It’s practically non-existent when you pick it up, especially if you get a deluxe (or one with a lot of toppings). That still doesn’t stop me from indulging in it though because it tastes so good.
Yesterday I decided to switch things up and get a sub instead of the typical deluxe pizza. (Of course, I still HAD to order the garlic knots as well.) I ordered a 6” Boar’s Head Combination Sub and was pleasantly surprised how perfect it was. Other restaurants’ subs are mostly bread and never enough meat and toppings. That’s one thing you’ll never have to worry about at Tommy’s. It was so good that I ordered another one today (this time opting for the 12” so I could have leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch and dinner)l There is such an overabundance of meat and toppings that you taste every ingredient in every last bite. I don’t have a large appetite (and the fact there are ingredients aplenty), that a 12” sub and a large order of garlic knots is literally enough food for 3 meals for me. When I received my order today it looked so perfectly delicious, that I had to snap a couple of photos before I dug in.
The garlic knots are to die for! Whether I’m ordering a pizza or one of their subs, their garlic knots are a must-have!
Once I tasted the first bite of food, I knew Tommy’s was going to be my go-to place for pizza. What I didn’t realize until I ordered my first sub yesterday, Tommy’s is also going to be my go-to place for subs as well.
I can’t leave a review without mentioning the staff. I’ve only eaten in the restaurant once, but everyone from that one in-restaurant encounter, to the delivery drivers I’ve met, everyone has been extremely kind and has gone above and beyond! Unfortunately I don’t know the drivers name, but twice when he delivered my food I asked him if he would run to the store for me to pick me up milk. I knew I was asking a lot, but I told him I couldn’t drive because of my strokes, and he was immediately (and compassionately) empathetic to my situation and happily obliged my request. If that doesn’t say everything you need to know about the kind of employees Tommy hires, nothing else will. As a matter of fact, the first time I ever tried Tommy’s was because other pizza chains (who I’ve ordered from every month) refused to deliver food to me because all I had was a $100 bill. The VERY FIRST TIME I contacted Tommy I explained my situation, and that I needed food because I had been literally living off Ramen noodles for two weeks. I explained to him that someone purchased something from me and I only had a $100 bill, but I needed something to eat. He actually said he also doesn’t take $100 bills, but he’d make an exception in order to help me. (Remember, I wasn’t even a customer of his at that point.) He sent his driver to deliver my food, and had him run to the bank to get change, then came back with my change. From that moment on I knew I’d be a customer for life. By the way, when my food was delivered yesterday, they took a little longer than expected. Without me saying a word, the driver apologized and gave me a gift certificate for the next time I ordered food, which happened to be today. Lol
I can’t say enough good things about Tommy, his employees, and their food! I can’t remember the last time a restaurant (or any company) actually took care of their customers. That’s one thing you’ll never have to worry about with Tommy’s Beachside Pizza!! So, GO ON!! GIVE TOMMY’S A TRY; YOU...

I don't know about you, loyal follower, but in this day and age, it's hard to cope with a slightly poltroonic outlook. Mustering the energy to venture forth with the economy and political atmosphere of an election year permeating the atmosphere is something I am finding harder and harder to do. If that wasn't enough, I now had to go to yet another Italian-American eatery as Dano's Pizza By the Shore was presented to me on my random name generator. At least I was staying beachside.
Proclaiming they were born on the Jersey Shore and not the Indian River Shore, they had NY stuff all over the place. Thankfully, The Situation and/or Snooki were not to be found. What I really liked was the paint scheme. Every Italian place has standard plastic checkered tablecloths, but not this place. Dano's has them painted with the colors of the Italian flag. Very cool!
Ashley is our server today and she also stated that she was married to the owner. Doesn't that make her the owner as well? I did, albeit skeptically, put in an order for their “world-famous” meatball sub. I am always leary when I see fluffery such as this or best in USA/State/County claims. I always picture an elderly couple in Perth planning a vacation and going, “Hey! Let's make it a point to stop in FL so we can have one of Dano's meatball subs the neighbors have been going on about.” Along with the sub, I also asked Ashley for one small white pizza.
Kickin' back and enjoyin' the vibe of the place, I soon noticed Ashley heading over with our food. Snapping the required pics, I began to chow down. The first to hit Big Boy's palate was the meatball sub. Excuse me, the “world famous” meatball sub. While I seriously doubt our Australian couple is talking about it, I did find it exceptional. The bread was warm, fresh and flaky, while the meatballs were delectable in their bed of marinara sauce.
Finding the sub to be surprisingly delightful, I took a bite out of the white pizza. Traditionally, a white pizza has a garlic and olive oil “sauce” topped with various cheese and perhaps some spinach. Dano's was topped with ricotta, romano, mozzarella, provolone and parmesan cheese. The dough was superb, and I could tell it was made on-site, not from frozen. It's very easy to tell the difference in flavor and consistency, plus I could see the dough mixer in the kitchen. It all starts with the base and this base was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and tasty all over. The cheeses were obviously the real dairy deal.

Read moreI ordered an 18 inch pepperoni pizza. I asked for 3 times the pepperoni. I even mentioned that I wanted to make sure they would use 3x the pepperoni used on a regular pepperoni pizza. I also asked for the pizza to be crispy. Explained I like the pepperoni to be crispy and toasted. Costed 25$ plus 3$ tip, 28$! I expected the pepperoni pizza I ordered. It came in. The photos are here. - Do this yourself: Pick 3 or 4 of those slices. Count the pepperoni slices. Wife and I averaged 9 pepperoni per slice. Paid for triple. Does that mean their regular 18 inch pepperoni pizza has 3 pieces of pepperoni per slice? If you walk in and order a slice of pepperoni you will get 3 pieces of pepperoni? After I finished writing this review my phone rang and it was Dan, fromDanos’s pizza. He said he heard that I was unhappy and offered to comp my order. I told him for me that meant he cared. I accepted it. He said he was sorry for what happened and I wasn’t going to pay for the pizza if I wasn’t happy. Honestly, I like that. I told him what I really wanted was to be able to get what I asked for. But I would be ok with the comp. I told him I had already written this review and wasn’t going to publish it, which he thanked me for. I rewrote it. I owe this to my followers. - I’m sure a regular order will be met with a lot of satisfaction. My order was tricky and I know it. - But it’s the best pizza one can get from a place. Cover the pizza with pepperoni. Toast it. Charge...
