Not impressed and would not return or recommend. First trip: 4.00 margaritas, a ton of flavors, fairly tasty and good especially for the price. But I asked for no straws and they handed us five+ and everything is serviced in plastic or to-go packaging which is pretty wasteful. Service was non-existent. I would rate that trip a 3.5/5 Second trip: my boyfriends daughter has a severe gluten/wheat allergy that requires an epipen. Trying to ask the staff about their products left us more confused than if we tried to guess. Usually Mexican food is our go-to because she can eat rice, cheese, beans, chips, and corn tortillas. They said all of these items had gluten but then tried to tell us they don’t, and then said it has a small amount potentially. So we had to order for everyone but her and take her home to make something. Then when we went to pay, they didn’t even know what we ordered and we had to re-explain everything we ordered to them to be able to pay our bill and get out of there. Lastly, they charged 10.00 for a burrito that said it was only 9.00, and when I asked about it she saw on the menu where it says 9.00, but then shrugged it off saying “oh this might be our old menu”. I didn’t fight it because it was only 1.00 more, but then we got home and it was just a burrito bowl and no tortilla, so we paid extra for one less ingredient. Very frustrating experience and none of the food was that great even though we were all completely starving. The Mexican corn was undercooked, the Korean burrito was small, the other burrito not made properly, and Mexican pizza had wilting veggies. The chips and queso were very delicious. We would give this visit a .5/5

First time visit on Saturday August 30, 2019. 4pm. Two adults. This is an extension of Crabby Bills. It seemed like we were the only non tourists here. When we walked in, the line to order was already backed up to the door. It's not apparent what the rules are when you get it, but there is no table service so you must order your food first. Saturday tacos are $2.00, but not for all varieties. Some are a dollar extra. The monster chips and salsa is about as big as a brown lunch bag but the 16oz salsa is close to a size of a jar, but comes in plastic. The chips are not salted but the salt shaker at the table was sticky so we used a napkin over top to use the salt. The straws are paper which I absolutely hate. Of course they have a poster how they are proud of not using plastic straws to save the sea life, but why would any of their straws end up in the ocean if their trash is handled correctly? The beaches are trashed with cigarettes and soda/beer can tabs, not straws. Anyways the paper straws are gross. They do not have any discounts for AAA or military etc. I tend to frequent places that do, especially places that recognize military and first responders. Would I come back? Maybe, but I wouldn't when the snow birds are here or at peak meal times.

Friendly staff in a little taco and burrito place that is similar to the big box chain quick service burrito places, but here you get the local touch to the concept. The hard shell tacos were just that and had nicely seasoned beef and the toppings I chose. The burritos appeared standard affair for this type of place, so went with the Mexican Pizza. Great value on the Mexican Pizza and the best way to sum it up is one huge 12 inch round Nacho topped with all the good stuff. So while the taco and huge nacho was okay, there were two great highlights. The Spicy Verde Salsa was phenomenal. Clearly made in house and was simply the best Spicy Verde Salsa I ever had. And the other highlight was the employees smiling and working hard, yet keeping the line moving in a welcoming way. So come in for a quick bite if looking for an alternative to the big box chain burrito places.

This is a perfect example of trying to fix something that wasn't broke. We were huge fans of Lulu's. It was a diamond in the rough. Great Prices great seafood and a beach atmosphere that appealed to locals and tourists alike.

The menu was great, the prices were awesome, staff was amazing, and the kitchen executed the menu to perfection. Plus they made one of the best Irish Mules I had ever had.

Why they decided to turn it into a Mexican Eatery I will never understand. However, we went in with an Open Mind and give it a try. The ordering concept where you fill out your menu card totally doesn't work. It is two sided and confusing, plus there is no kids menu. We tried an assortment of items. The burrito, empanadas, tacos, tamales, chips and queso, and Mexican corn. When you order, they give you a number and they call you up when your food is ready. It is basically self service.

The restaurant was clean and the decor was nice and the staff was friendly.

The food was bland, not seasoned properly. The tamale was soggy and very little filler. The meat in the empanada and burrito were lack luster. The queso was cold. My Daughter did not like anything. We ended up going to a local ice cream shop on the beach to get her a hot dog.

The only thing that was good was the Mexican Corn, but that could not make up for rest of the food. Our meal cost about $40.00 and that was Forty bucks that I wish I had spent elsewhere.

If they don't improve their food, this restaurant will not last. When it fails and it will, maybe. they will bring back Lululs. One can only hope!

Thank you for responding back. It shows you really care about your restaurant. A lot of us locals really miss Lulus and we really were hoping for a Similar experience at the Cantina.

That being said please have a staff meeting with respect to the food. They either need to revamp things in preparation (i.e. not executing the menu correctly) or you need to look at the menu itself. The tamales need work. They need more filling and the seasoning needs to be reworked. The same goes with the beef and other meats. The seasoning is not right. The good thing is that it appears that everything is fresh so that is a plus. Please take these constructive criticisms and the feed back from other dinners to heart so you can right the ship and keep the business headed in the right direction. I truly wish...

Very disappointed with new location. Let me just start by saying my family has enjoyed Jakes Cantina for many years. Fast service and amazing food. Sadly to say the new location has horrible service and the food is not nearly as good as it was at the old location.

We walked into the new location on Sunday just before noon to order food to go. We were the only 2 people in line at first. The young man behind the counter did not acknowledge us or says anything. After about 5 minutes of waiting and staring at him I asked him if this is where we order. He said “yes it is” then continued ignoring us. We continued to stand there for 10 more minutes staring at him and the employees behind the glass making to go orders as other people lined up behind us. Employee filling drink case and behind bar also ignored the growing line of people behind us. Now the line has over 10 people lined up and all the employees are still busy ignoring us. We were just about to walk out. Finally one of the men behind the glass making food asked if we filled out the paper order form to order our food. No one in the line had the paper order form to place order on or saw anything instructing that orders were placed that way. We were the told to insert the completed order form into the side of the glass wall in an unmarked crack. Who knew. I guess only the employees knew this.

The entire experience was ridiculous. The fact that we stood in front of this entire staff for 15 minutes and not one person pointed out the fact that we needed to fill out an order ticket. The young man behind the counter should have said to complete an order form when I asked him if this is where we order at the 5 minute point.

It took us over 20 minutes to walk in and get our food when there was no one in line in front of us. Not one employee apologized for the confusion and ignoring us for so long. After all of that the food wasn’t great. We were long time loyal Jakes customers and now we will not be going back to this new location

We were very excited to finally try Jakes after all the hype from so many friends. Sadly, it was a let down and we will not return. By the sound of other reviewers, things have gone downhill since moving to the new location (and suspect being purchased by Crabby Bill’s)

Ordering kiosks were challenging to work your way through, particularly if building your own. (Wawa has them beat hands down). So much that the customer on the kiosk next to us spoke up and agreed with us as he heard us grumbling about the challenges.

Food took nearly 20 min to prep with only a handful of people in the place. My burrito bowl was luke warm at best. Her tacos were downright cold. The pico looked like nothing but chopped tomatoes, the flavor was so so, rice in my bowl wasn’t properly cooked with many grains crunchy (gross). I ordered both pork and chicken but only got pork which was horrible compared to typical Mexican carnitas. Chipotle’s bowls are a 10. I’d give this a 1-2. Guacamole was good. Free chips were a nice touch if they weren’t stale and we had more than 5 chips worth of salsa.

Sounds like everything is crashing at the new location and/or under new ownership. Feels like corners are being cut in the name of profit and that’s a disappointment. Seeing how virtually all reviews are being replied to, I hope these NUMEROUS poor reviews of recent make you as a company actually IMPROVE, however, months has passed with the same complaints in the reviews over and over. I don’t want a fluffy butt-kissing response, I want to see this place go back to the 4.9 star top rated place it was at the old location. To drop to 4.5 in a short period of time with a 1000+ reviews is a massive red flag and changes should be implemented to go back to the ways of the past instead of simply just writing...
