Wonderful place to have a meal. Great menu selection from daily specials to pasta , steaks , seafood , Greek dishes . Service is great & servers are friendly and helpful . Clean restaurant . ( UPDATE : On our last visit here it was very busy & there was a wait for a table , you put your name on the list & are called when your table is ready . We waited for over a half hour & noticed a part of seven being seated which was same number as our party this party had just arrived & weren't on the list . When we asked the young ladies at the hostess stand they said the male server in restaurant did this . The party were friends of his so he seated them immediately ahead of people on the list . So they got us a table ready & took us to it & before we even sat the server said the male server told her not to seat us as he had a party of seven he was going to seat there ahead of us again . So we had to go back to the lobby & wait more . We waited all total of 45 minutes to an hour before being seated . We at least waited our turn . But this was unacceptable behavior , I don't care if you have friends come in for a meal they should put their name on the list & wait their turn . So we haven't dined there in several weeks , where we normally dined there weekly for lunch & sometimes breakfast . The ladies who are servers know us well & have always given great service . It is sad that one individual in the restaurant is allowed to be so unprofessional & rude to...
Read moreI visited Sun Valley Café recently, and while the greeting at the door was warm and welcoming, my overall experience was mixed. When we sat down, our server seemed nice at first. However, when my order arrived, I noticed that the cheese was missing. She did bring it after I pointed it out, which I appreciated, but then I realized the main issue—my breakfast was not what I ordered. I specifically asked for bacon, but the plate came with ham.
When I brought this up, instead of simply correcting the mistake, the server went back and forth with me, insisting it was correct. At one point, she even said, “I just woke up myself,” which felt unprofessional and didn’t help the situation. The repeated arguing made the experience unpleasant and uncomfortable. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of acknowledgment or apology from her left a negative impression.
On the positive side, the manager—who I understand is also the cook and owner—was very kind and professional. He personally apologized for the situation, which I truly appreciated. His attitude stood in strong contrast to the server’s behavior.
Overall, while the café itself seems welcoming and the owner is wonderful, the service from my server made this visit disappointing. I hope this was just an off day, because the kindness from the manager shows the potential for a much better...
Read moreThe only reason this gets 3 instead of 2 is because of the tea and the prompt service. Atmosphere very drab and hot inside. Salmon overcooked until rubbery, with an outside crust. Salad very bland and cheaply constructed. I ordered it dubiously and thought it might be okay, but for $13 a salad really should have some goodies such as cheese and crunchies (nuts, croutons, etc.). The bangin shrimp was on the low side of okay, with a very blah presentation (picture a pile of fried baby shrimp dipped in bright yellow sauce and placed in a bowl). The Turkey special tasted okay, but, again, overcooked and just really unappetizing in appearance. The rolls were as hard as hard can be. My grandson could use them for baseball practice. It took my German Shepherd 10 minutes to eat a roll we took home. It was like a bone. Seriously. The tea was absolutely delicious, but, otherwise I have no idea why this place has received so many great reviews. To frame my review, places where we love to eat and always enjoy both the service and the atmosphere are Jeckyll & Hyde, Duckworth's, Moosehead, Showmars, Angry Ale's, Sonny's BBQ, Midwood Smokehouse, Metro Diner, etc. Sorry but this is first and last trip to Sun...
