Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Indiana

We went in yesterday, 1/3/15, and ate. The hostess was pleasant. She sat us and returned about 5 minutes later and took our drink order. The hostess served our drinks. 20 minutes went by before the waitress showed up. They were not very busy. When thr waitress did arrive she was not only unpleasant, but she offered no sense of condolences as to why we had waited for 20 minutes for her. "sorry, do you know what you want?" My wife ordered and a steak and when the waitress moved on to the rest of the tables order my wife asked if she was allowed to choose how her steak was cooked...the waitress then informed her that that steak only comes medium because of the cut. (I understand they're not a steakhouse, but really?)

Moving on, both my wife and I ordered soup and salad...which kindly showed up with our meals. Probably because the waitress didn't bother to ask if we wanted it before our meals, like normal. So my wife's french onion soup was not hot. Her over peppered steak was (everyone brace yourself) not medium but completely overcooked. Most likely because the waitress didn't care to ask how she'd like it cooked. The waitress did show up once again to ask if I'd like a refill...not that it mattered much as she didn't bring it until the end of our meal.

Finally. The check arrives. And we offer up our card quickly, we watched her walk (without a receipt book...just our card in her hand) to other tables to take orders, pick up trash, then finally over to cash us out. She finally slipped out of sight and didn't return with our card for another 15 or so minutes. We actually started talking to the neighbor table about our mutually terrible service. Needless to say, the service was horrible!!!

This is the second bad experience we've had here. The first one, the GM came and resolved it politely. Which would be why we returned. But considering they still have crappy waitresses 6 months later, its not really worth my breath. We will not be returning. In the long run, if you want crappy food and service, save your money and go to McDonalds across the street. They have...

We seem to be on a hit or miss with this place. Sometimes everything falls into place and things are perfect. Other times... Complete miss. We pull up, after giving them a description of our vehicle, and our order and we wait. We then call, letting them know we're there and waiting. We continue waiting, as other cars start to pull up to Curbside pickup. While we're waiting, we observe no less than 3 young ladies at the hostess table talking to each other, looking out the window at all of us, then going back to their conversation. When the server comes out, she goes to three different vehicles, dropping off food and collecting credit cards from each. She then disappeared into the restaurant again. We wait, we wait a bit more, we look at the girls having a pow-wow... Waiting... Then our server returns, but she's carrying more orders. She drops these items off to the respective customer, then walks to us with our receipt to sign. I ask what the heck is going on with the wait. She says, she's the only one doing Curbside. I ask about the the young ladies doing nothing, for the 20 minutes we waited??? She refused to say, repeating she's the only one on Curbside. My hats off to the individual server doing Curbside. But, food seriously lacking, especially when you have to reheat it at home. UPDATE: Spoke with the manager, she states juveniles/minors cannot work Curbside. So the 3 kids working the hostess tables only contribution is making the food come out late and cold and overwhelming and over-working the one who can work Curbside.

Talk about mis-managed! We're done with this...

Stopped in this Applebee’s yesterday to have some appetizers and a cocktail with my husband. They sat us at the first table by the door, which we were unhappy with because we caught the cold breeze when they open the doors, we asked to be set at the bar, but they were busy in there, so we took the table, then came in four rowdy, young men, one of them was really drunk and being obnoxious, hitting the booth with his back several times and they just kept getting louder and louder. When they brought me my drink I ordered, a long beach which is kind of like a Long Island iced tea only with cranberry. It wasn’t right they brought it in a tall glass wasn’t even cranberry juice some kind of Shirley Temple drink it tasted like didn’t even have any alcohol in it and our waiter did finally come back around we asked to be moved away from the annoying table behind us. We finally got moved over to the side of the wall which was nice so we ordered just a few appetizers chicken wontons some onion rings and nachos when they brought out my nachos. I cannot believe they let them leave the kitchen like that, they were burnt to a crisp, and the waiter didn’t ask me nothing about it just dropped them off and went on, we usually have great experience down here. We come down here all the time but, I think today ended it for us. I didn’t see no manager walking around, the host is upfront was so dumbfounded. All she could do is stand here and do a little dance while looking around for tables , that kind of money we spent for horrible food and service. Yeah I think we’re done with Applebee’s, at least...
