I love Cracker Barrel and grew up eating it on special days.
I understand yesterday was Thanksgiving but there is no excuse for the service we received.
Where do we start... We were a table of 8 that called before we got there and waited over 30 mins to get a table that was clean and empty when we got there as you could see the table from outside. Keep in mind my family only had an hour to sit, order, and eat while the rest of my family wasnt in a rush.
Once we were seated that is where the worst of it all happened.
Our server (who we were told was one of their best) an older gentleman with gray and black curly hair and glasses came to our table. He stood at 1 end and screamed in our ears attempt to get our drink orders instead of taking half the table then walking around to the other side. Silver ware was dirty and unclean.
I asked for a chocolate milk in the iced mugs but he said oh sorry you cant get that. We dont have those mugs anymore. So I ordered unsweet tea no ice.
When he brought all our drinks he screamed what they were and handed them down. After the drinks he threw the napkins on the table with the straws and walked away with out our creamers, extra sugars we asked for and didnt bother taking our order. (I spoke with the manager Emily which didnt seem to help much but she was nice)
Another 15 mins later (we have 30 mins until we leave) came with drink refills before taking our meal orders.
Another 10 mins later he comes and takes our order. The menus did not have very many options. 5 of the 8 of us ordered the thanksgiving meal. 4 asked for green beans as their side. 1 asked for breakfast and my kiddo just wanted fries. I was too ticked off to eat by this point and I was ready to go.
Another 20 mins go by and here comes our food. (we needed to leave about 5 mins ago) so we packed put food in to go boxes.
When the food came all the Thanksgiving meals had corn instead of green beans. When the server asked if we needed anything else and we asked what happened to the green beans and why didnt we have any gravy and why the stuffing was rock hard. He said let me go check.
When he came back with the to go boxes he then told us sorry their out of green bean and the only substitute was corn.
So food was awful, dry, overcooked, and the server was rude, loud, and he did not get a tip from me.
So when I go to pay there is another manager...not Emily at the register and I expressed my anger and disappointment with our meal. (This point were already 15 mins late leaving). She said hold on I will be right back.
Another 10 mins later she come back and doesnt say anything. She conps our drinks and rings me up. It wasnt until I left with my back to her that she apologized and wished me happy holidays.
I wont be returning to this location. 1 of 5 stars is what...
Read moreIt pains me to describe my experience at this cracker barrel the last couple of times that we have been here has been less than pleasant. I do this only to make awareness. Not that I will abstain from going to cracker barrel.
They are always pleasant and welcoming and send us are always very pleasant.
We were seated a freestanding wall and well I love being seated at a table alongside a wall as opposed to smack dab in the middle, the tables were not spaced well together. No worries, there were big spaces in between the tables in the row so we just moved the table next to us over a little bit to give us room for our table. Fixable. But could have been avoided. Our waiter was kind and welcoming. We got our drinks but had no silverware or napkins or straws. We had to ask a few times to get It for us. We ordered which went well but found out they were baking the cornbread if I didn't mind having them as soon as they were out of the oven, which of course is the way. I love it. To my dismay though did not get my cornbread until we were walking out the door. Not the worst thing in the world that could happen but It was cornbread and fresh hot cornbread. Iykyk. We got our meals which looked delicious. I got the steak and chicken combo and my husband received the rainbow trout. His trout was cooked well in his food was perfect. My steak looked amazing on the outside, But soon found out that 10 oz of my steak, a third of it was just pure fat. I also like my steak medium, which it was not. It was very raw. I could have returned the steak to get cooked more but I've just never had good experience of doing that and my dog ended up enjoying the leftovers. I will say the chicken was delicious along with the steak fries and coleslaw. Drinks were topped well. So nothing terrible, but I've had a similar experience here before and thought it was just a bad day them, so I'm writing this to hopefully make CB aware. I guess my only argument is that coming to eat. Felt like I was cooking at home because I felt like I had to set my own table and ask for things that should have been and have been in the past a part of the experience of being able to go out to eat and just relax and enjoy a Sunday meal. I still tipped well because it's the right thing to do But do hope that these comments help the service...
Read moreWe had a group family from Texas Visit and Western Indiana , there was seven of us . It took forever to get our food ! They brought out the biscuits and cornbread 20 min before our food no plates so we ate on napkins hoping the food and plates would come drank 2 or 3 rounds of drinks finally our food came one of our cousins did not get any food everyone was almost finished before hers came I order beans and cornbread the beans came way after cornbread was gone they were completely dry on top no liquid it had odd piece string like dark green pieces different kinds in it ! I started picking them out I have no ideal some looked like over cooked lettuce or greens ,not sure what was in them no spoon . It took a while to get my spoon I picked it out with a fork showed our waitress she took them back to the kitchen. So I ordered peach cobbler she came back said they were out so I ordered a small dish of Mac and cheese it was so small about like a dish they use to serve cottage cheese in . This was exit 130 off I 65 North in Whitestown exit Cracker Barrel . They need serious training on food prep and timing of serving they were not busy at 445 PM .Our waitress was great but I don’t know how she can make any tips with food coming out like this . Very unhappy and embarrassed for my family who traveled over 1000 miles they traveled so far and that was gonna be their dinner . with other family members and to turn out like this is unreal for Cracker Barrel. I’m never had food served like this or beans I always eat the beans I love the beans and have all that stuff in there. I don’t know what it was and the beans were so dry. They looked recycled off someone’s plate return . You couldn’t eat them so I’m talking crusty dry on top.I will never go...
