I walked into the restaurant and placed my order to dine in. The girl behind the counter never said if the food would be delivered to my table or if I needed to wait by the pickup window so I hung out by the window for about 5 minutes. I saw an employee delivering food from the window to a family in the front of the store so I assumed they would bring it to me when it was ready. I sat at a table in the front window, pulled out my laptop and started working. After 35 minutes (not an exaggeration) I walked up to the pick up window to ask if they had the order. The restaurant was nearly empty and there were 2 employees behind the counter. I stood there for a minute or two and both guys ignored me. I finally learned into the counter and said "excuse me- do you have an order for an egg and avocado breakfast sandwich?" One guy turned to the other and said "that thing's been sitting here forever" and walked away. The other employee finished what he was doing, walked over grabbed the plate and loudly placed it in the service window as if he was inconvenienced. Without a word he turned and went about his chores. I took the cold sandwich back to my table and ate the meal. I'll be in Whitestown for another 5 days before returning to the east coast. My experiences at the Panera Bread stores across the country have always been 5 stars. These guys have no clue what customer service is all about. At least 2 employees knew the food had been sitting there for quite sometime and let it get cold. The girl who took my order did not tell me how to go about taking possession of my order. I never heard anyone call my name saying that the order was ready. Why would they deliver food to some tables but not others? It was clear that nobody in the store gave a damn about my dining experience. There's too much competition in the area for breakfast venues so I will find another place that appreciates my business for the remainder of the trip. It only takes 1 or 2 bad employees to ruin the reputation of a great brand. This store is on...
Read moreCustomers at this location might very well be charged more than the price advertised on the board hanging above the cash registers. This is true for at least one menu item - the Deli Turkey sandwich. When I pointed out to the cashier that the computer’s price for the “Whole Sandwich” was significantly higher than that listed on the sign, she acknowledged the discrepancy but seemed unwilling to do anything about it. She seemed annoyed when I requested that she bring her manager to the front to correct the problem. When the manager arrived, bringing with her two additional team members to produce a total of four employees to address this issue, she gave me a long explanation about “Take 2” pricing, which did not apply to my order in any way. Finally, she admitted that the “Whole Sandwich” price on the board was wrong, and she offered to complete my order at no charge, albeit with a completely unprofessional attitude and extremely condescending tone. I politely explained that I was not trying to get a free lunch - I simply wanted them to have the chance to fix the problem. In order for that to happen, somebody must bring it to their attention. Not once did any of the four of them apologize. Not once did any of the four of them thank me. They were all content to act as though I was somehow in the wrong, but they would attempt to pacify me with a free sandwich. As a side note, I should also mention that their kitchen seems not to know how to toast bread. I asked for the bread to be toasted, but I’d have challenged anyone to discern visually the difference between the allegedly toasted slices of bread used to make my sandwich and a couple of slices of soft, untoasted bread. Note to the kitchen: Toasted bread looks and feels different than untoasted bread. Toasted bread tends to be characterized by various shades of golden brown on the surface to which heat was applied, and it tends to be somewhat crunchy. If it’s still white and soft, it’s not properly toasted. Conclusion: I’m not at all...
Read moreI ordered a tomato sandwich (yes I realize this isn’t an actual menu item, but who doesn’t order different things every now and then?) and was first given some sort of hot mozzarella tomato sandwich, the tomatoes were cooked, kinda looked like spaghetti sauce. I took it back inside, explaining it’s not what I ordered, I only wanted fresh tomatoes and mayo on a cold sandwich. The cashier assured me “I checked, it’s only tomatoes and mayo.” Even though there was clearly melted cheese on it...but okay. So I explained again, I want a COLD sandwich with fresh tomatoes and mayo. That’s it. She brought me another sandwich, this time it was cold bread, hot cooked tomatoes, and gobs of mayo. She told me she watched them make it this time, it was just tomatoes and mayo. I explained once again very clearly that I wanted a COLD sandwich with FRESH tomatoes and mayo. She goes back again, then the manager comes out and asks me what the problem is. I told her I was literally just trying to get a tomato sandwich. She finally said “ohhhh! You mean like tomato slices?” Yes. Tomato slices. So after 3 tries I finally got the most simple sandwich ever. They were super nice and gave me a free muffin for the trouble...but holy COW, I wasted probably 30-40 minutes in there just trying to get something I probably just should’ve made at home. Im honestly still so confused how nobody had a clue what I was...
