Almost Famous — Restaurant in Indianapolis

Excited about a tapas and coffee bar but it was so disappointing. The place looks good, the coffee and drinks are good. That is about it. There were only 2 servers for an almost full place, severly understaff. The 2 were taking orders, serving drinks, coffee and food. 1st round arrived at reasonable time after that we did not see our server for 30 plus minutes. Had to insist her to place our order as we never got asked. Placed 2nd round, appetizers and mains since we knew we would probably would not seen them again. The tapas were mediocre and expensive. The paella was horrendous. The paella was likely instant rice probably, with tomato saice and chicken aka not paella at all. The rice was undercooked. After 1 spoon did not touch it. Had to insist and beg the server to return it. The server only removed the fake paellas cost because we demanded it since we could not eat them. No apologies, explanations and definetely did not make it up with any fair discount and t anything. First...

Almost Famous is an absolute standout! The eccentric and vivid ambience immediately sets the tone for a fun experience, and the service is spot on. Marcus, the bartender, has a real talent for listening to what you want and surprising you with a drink you didn’t even know you needed—definitely ask for his recommendations!

The food is delicious, especially during their great happy hour on Sundays (and possibly other days too). One thing to note, though: the bar stools are super comfortable, but I found them a bit tall for the granite bar top—something to keep in mind if you’re on the shorter side.

Oh, and the bathrooms? Super cute! The pink tile is absolutely adorable—I seriously want it in my house.

A bartender from another bar suggested we stop by Almost Famous to try the best espresso martini in Indy. I could not be more thankful for her recommendation! We stopped in just to try one martini and then planned to continue on with our bar hop, but we ended up spending several hours here & actually stayed until close, which was way later than we had originally planned on being out. Marcus made us phenomenal drinks and kept us even better company! We had a blast with him. The music, the ambiance, the staff, the drinks, everything was top tier.
