We were at the Murat Center on July 5th 2015 to see John Fogerty. The concert itself was fantastic. The Murat Center was the biggest disappointment we've ever been to. First of all it took a lot of determination on my part to even get tickets. We are both handicapped and since my husband has only got 1/4 of a lung I needed to be sure of the accommodations. Live Nation had nothing on that and attempting to get through to a live person at the venue was insane. Eventually, after several days & numerous messages left, I managed to get a call back. I was assured their handicapped seating was above and beyond what we would need. This was no more then an out and out bold lie. First there are no restrooms on the main floor. You either walked or took a make shift elevator to get to them. We were told by a person that attempted to use it with his wheelchair bound wife that they could not get in it properly. We did not try. Our seats were anything BUT handicapped. We sat in a regular row with the end seat missing. I have extreme damage to one leg and needed to protect it. I sat in the last regular seat and my husband sat in a metal chair they put at the end of the row with his oxygen tank. We had to sit and stand numerous times not only to try to get a glimpse of the show but to let others in and out of the row. One lady was upset with me because she tripped over my cane which I had to use to balance myself. My husband's oxygen tank was knocked over 3 times. At the end of the show we had no choice but to try to leave with the rest of the crowd. We attempted to stay seated but we were being hurt setting there. Once we tried to walk with the crowd it was worse. I was beyond scared that he would be able to breathe in that mass of people & I would get out of there without breaking my leg back open. Once we did get out the doors the staff was lined wanting to know how everyone liked the show. Or so they pretended. I immediately began voicing my opinion and asking for help to get a seat for my husband. Not ONE person helped him. Another concert goer saw a chair and pointed it out to him. The staff totally turned their backs to me and greeted others instead. There was one woman in the staff line that spoke harshly and instead of any concern for our health argued with me. She said it was an old building and what did we expect. I told her we have been doing concerts for over 40 years and NEVER WENT TO A PLACE SO HORRIBLE. Once we became handicapped just a few years ago we still do our best to enjoy concert going as much as possible. We have never had to put up with such of an uncaring venue as this place. SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF PROBLEMS.... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. YOU'VE...

This place gets worse every time i go back. Ok, so i stopped going when i got hit in the feet by a push-broom by people cleaning up after a Flaming Lips show trying to rush people out a single exit years ago. Thats after we were treated like Nazi's at the front door (dont even try wearing a wallet chain! - you'll be walking back to your car and good luck finding parking!). So it had been a few years or more and i really wanted to see QOTSA. The show started before 8pm (made me feel like an old person getting the steak deal before 6pm) and was over before 11pm...this was a Rock n Roll show supposedly. I was late and missed 3 songs of the main band because at every other venue ive ever been to (well over 100 shows since 1983) the opening band doesnt even go on til 8:30 - thats when the main band started!! I was home by 11:30. I guess they treat you so badly at the door because they dont want anyone shanking a 12yo in the audience which is understandable as i dont like 12yo's at rock shows (also dont like Foo Fighters) (what good is your first concert if you dont get shanked?). Yes, i had a seat next to a 12yo, i asked him his age. Other side of me people were smoking weed, which is fine but it was just all too weird mixing adults and kids like that. No wallet chains but - bring your 12yo kids!! Never going back no matter what band plays here. Ive been in all the rooms and the only one that doesnt half suck is the theater and even then you have to get out from under the balcony. The sound absolutely blows in the other rooms. After all the Polo Shirts and kids i saw at QOTSA i doubt ill ever see...
Read moreWe were in the Egyptian Room to see the Last Comic Standing Tour. Show was great (for the most part), but this is the worst venue I have EVER been to. The sound was OK but the seating was horrible. The seating consists of a whole bunch of small chairs (more narrow even than a folding chair) in rows. They are zip tied together so there is no space between them and so you cannot move them. They are so narrow that any average size person, will be touching the person next to them. Any even slightly heavy person, or woman with wider hips, will be taking up more than their seat. Both fortunately and unfortunately for me, I was on the end. Up side was I didn't have to deal with being totally confined / surrounded. Down side is I was only sitting on half a chair. My left leg was having to support my whole left side through the show. Felt like I was half sitting half crouching through the whole thing. Also, throughout the show, the row in front of us somehow was moving backward towards us, so the point the 3 inches of space between their knees and chairs that they did have was gone and they had chairs digging into their knees (one guy near me finally got fed up and pushed the chair in front of him forward, totally freaking that person out).
So be aware, if you are going to see a show where you will be sitting the whole time, either find a different venue, or be prepared to extremely uncomfortable. This is a venue where they found the cheapest possible way to get as many chairs into a room...
