Tl;dr we enjoyed our meal very much and would come back to try everything on the menu.
The venue is quite lovely with nice outdoor seating and just the right amount of space between tables. Waitstaff was kind and very helpful with recommendations. We were provided with some complimentary chicharrones (vegan) at the start of the meal, which were light and crispy. We started off our meal with the cauliflower appetizer, which was delicious and also quite creative—it had sweet, savory, and spicy elements to it with fun textural components, especially with the crunchy pepita seeds! My only suggestion for the dish is that it be cooked in smaller chunks because the insides of the cauliflower pieces did not get enough of the seasoning and were a bit crunchy/raw cauliflower-forward.
For our entrees, we got the paella and skirt steak. Both were well-executed. Paella was solid but did not blow me out of the water. The scallop was cooked to perfection though. I’m also not one to be particularly impressed by steaks, so I thought the steak (medium-rare) dish was pretty good, but my partner really enjoyed it! I thought the machego-polenta fry was a nice addition and the broccolini was my favorite part of the dish. We finished off our meal with an apple and caramel tres leches dish, which was like a McDonalds apple pie filling with tres leches cake! A bit too sweet for me and I did wish there was more ice cream to accompany the cake, but overall, it was a good finish to the meal. We started searching on our phones for other livery locations in hopes that one would be closer to us in our home states. If we lived in the area, we would definitely come back to check out all the dishes...
Read moreAmazing flavor, we just need a little more function. I really wish I could have given a 4.5 stars because they have done so many things right with this concept.
The Atmosphere: You name it, you can find it here when it comes to atmosphere with multiple bars. Outdoor seating for the roof top vibes, open air window seating for people watching on the main floor, main floor bar for lively conversation and high energy crowds, upstairs bar for a more relaxed cool kid vibe. Great job on the build out and interior design all the way around.
The Food: Extremely well executed spin on Latin dishes packed with tons of flavors you won't find in many other places. So why not 5 stars??? I had to deduct a star for function. Latin food is known for portions that satisfy. I feel like this is borderline a tapas resturant with their very small portions of meat. I also ordered the street corn and got about 4 spoon fulls of corn. I ordered the steak and got 4 thin strips of skirt steak that seemed more like flank steak to me.
The Service: The hostesses were nice and bubbly and the server was nice as well. I would say a 4 out of 5 stars for service because it was slow and I don't think it was the kitchens fault. I have to say though the Cunningham group rarly disappoints on staff so this shouldn't affect your decision to give them a shot.
Pro tip: make sure to at least sample the Mezcal if you have not experienced it yet. It's an underrated liquor. Lastly, don't let them forget to bring you the...
Read moreThis location is definitely better than Noblesville. Ambiance, food, and service wise. Never had a problem with delays to get a table even with a reservation like I have in Noblesville. Generally don’t have to deal with noisy tables of children like you might in Noblesville.
The food is fantastic, especially the empanadas. Service has been great every time at this location. It’s a great place for a date or double date. As long as they keep serving empanadas, I’ll keep coming back.
I do wish the menu would change a bit more though, but that’s a limitation of Cunningham restaurants in general. Only one empanada item on the menu rotates seasonally. The paella is great, so is the skirt steak, but nothing on the menu is so great that I want to eat it every time I’m there.
Only complaint about this restaurant is parking is a pain if you’re driving in. Street parking is really the only way. They have valet, but if you’re like me (and many others), and care about your car, you prefer to avoid valet parking options in the city. The first time I came here, we were a few minutes late due to not being able to find a close spot. Every time after that visit, I chose to drop off my party and go park somewhere a couple blocks over and walk. Luckily it’s safe to do this since the location is Mass Ave. Not ideal, but worth it...
