Horrific working environment, 90% of the actual staff are lovely but the owners of the buisness will make it very clear they are only still in the buisness for paychecks at this point. I have witnessed staff be condescended towards countless times by the ownership, at times they would let their duties pile up and when a staff member asked when they could expect leadership to do their job, because it was impeding their own duties, the team lead became upset because their employee had the gall to hold them accountable for their neglected duties that directly affected the employees ability to perform their job. Ownership can have a hard time taking needs of the employees seriously. I witnessed for over a month employees had to use a broken payment processor that would process credit card payments 1 out of maybe 6 attempts, making the task of payment processing take up to 2 minutes at a time PER CUSTOMER. This frustrated the staff greatly because fixing it was put off initially because I guess ownership just thought the staff was doing something wrong so they didn’t bother putting in a support ticket for their broken equipment. More extremely I have seen health safety practices being ignored and never properly trained . Sanitizer solution is left in spray bottle for days at a time at cold temperatures by the majority of staff, this was my first job that required sanitizer for cleaning purposes but as I have found out sanitizer needs to be changed every few hours and kept at 75 degrees to be effective at all. This is a key reason why staff is sick a lot, which ownership doesn’t seem to mind having sick and contagious people working either.
ice chest at the Windsor location would constantly have mold growing in it. The staff wouldn’t use it when it was VISIBLY moldy but this doesn’t account for when bacteria isn’t visible, some staff actually felt very bad about unknowingly serving many people mold contaminated ice and like many things ownership only took this seriously in their own time. Staff began to borrow ice from another buisness and I witnessed one of the owners chalk it up to people not cleaning the chest properly when trying to mange the issue himself. this chest is very old and located directly UNDER a drain used to dump milk and excess coffee into, old milk is 100% in the ice chest because of this comedically bad position, there is essentially a slop drain dangling above the ice, maybe that’s part of it sir. He then proceeded to wash the chest with a dirty bucket full of dust and debris filled with water to clean it out and call it a day.. I didn’t have the energy to confront him on this error once I discovered how dirty the bucket he used to clean it was so I just shut it down and cleaned it out the next day.
I don’t have much issues with any store manager (who are just as frustrated with ownership as staff is) but they did also tend to schedule gruling close-opens, there were many times i would finish work at 8:30pm and would have to be back at 7:00am, which every now and again is very doable, but I would do this up to 3 or 4 days in a row and it felt like I had very little time to myself impacting my mental health. The manager recognized this wasn’t very fair to me since I was the only staff member at that time who was expected to close-open like that all the time and promised to balance the schedule out out be less grueling, this was never actually fulfilled. Would not recommend working for this buisness if you value your own peace, there is a reason the staff is notorious for looking miserable at times, they are...

Read moreCity loaf: Incredible. Wonderful crusty bread with a heavenly chew and excellent flavors, definitely will be getting more than half a loaf next time! Destroyed it in less than 24 hours making fantastic sandwiches. They've got a bread slicing machine so they can conveniently get that prepped for you in a jiffy!
Also got a ham and cheese croissant kinda thing. Bit into it and went weak at the knees. Incredibly buttery, flaky, savory goodness. The best I have ever had. I'm glad my eye caught this one. Not many foods have made me react like this.
Got a fenugreek and chive (I think) biscuit and it was also heavenly. Rich, buttery, soft yet hefty, and full of wonderful flavors. She's nailed this one too. This is good enough to spotlight any breakfast but I'm afraid that if I used this to make a breakfast sandwich, I'd be ruined forever as nothing could match up to this. With great power comes great responsibility, and my taste buds might not be able to handle flavors of this magnitude!
Also got a chocolate croissant, and it's also top notch! Heads and shoulders above other mediocre offerings from other places for sure.
But yes, for fantastic bread and phenomenal pastries and such, I look forward to frequenting Amelia's and...
