The oddest brunch experience of my life. 5 or so years ago we heard this place was really great. Ended up moving out of IN, but always wanted to try it. Moved back & my wife & two friends form Chicago finally try it. Cool looking place & the food was good. However, the service was so weird. We waited 45 minutes. They try to sit us at bar stools. Fine for some, but my wife’s pregnant. We politely said could we please just wait for a table- then they seemed to hold a grudge after that. The hostess says yes but it will be 10 or 15 minutes more. She says people seem to just be sitting a long time. She also looks annoyed. Okay that’s worth it for us —but 25 minutes pass. We check in on the table. Ohh it will be 10-15 minutes. I’m like you said that 15 minutes ago. She’s like, “oh we can squeeze you in at that long table.” We accept that - happy. A table opens up a minute later they sat us there -great. My wife asks for a side of bacon, and says can we have the side basically as an appetizer. Server says ohh that’s an awesome idea of course! Our food comes out, but no bacon. We then ask about it. The lady says, “okay awesome!” 15-20 minute pass we have finished our food. Still no bacon. Someone asks if everything is good. We tell them about the bacon. They say “ohh you still haven’t gotten your bacon!” 2 minutes later she brings it to us and she says, “they swear they already served you bacon, but we will give it to you for free anyways.” Okay… kind of a weird thing to say. Then we get our check. We put our card out immediately, 10 minutes pass and no one takes the card. We walk up thinking maybe we are supposed to walk it up, they ask who our server was looking very inconvenienced. Then the server walks the card back & sets it down on the bar to the right of us and just glares our direction, but says nothing. Essentially more than 3 staff members were extremely out of it, dismissive, and borderline rude. I’m still confused if it was intentional or on accident. We all left feeling really weird about the experience. Maybe staff is new, but more so wonder if they were drunk or on something. Good food but not worth the annoyance of how the place...
Read moreI really hoped this would be a go-to spot for us as it isn't far and the food menu looked interesting. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here. As someone who has served before, I like to give servers the benefit of the doubt & extend grace, especially when it's busy. However, when we went it really wasn't that busy and we spent way too much time waiting for just about everything--10ish min to get greeted by our server once we got sat. She didn't apologize or seem concerned about making us wait, 10 minutes for my friend to get info about what GF options they have (it's not written on their menu), 20+ minutes to order (when we were ready well before then). Everyone else around us who got sat after us got waited on before us. When the food runner ran my friends food she practically slammed it down in front of her and was not at all considerate of the fact it was a bit alarming--she just walked away. I saw her deliver food to other folks and she seemed much kinder and professional, so I'm not sure why we got that kind of experience. I got the savory French toast and it was cold in the middle. We had been there so long at that point I didn't even want to bother telling them and the waitress never came back to check with us about how we liked everything. We waited a while (yet again) for our server to ask us about checking out. She was making her rounds to other people around us so we just assumed she would come to us next. When we realized she wasn't we had to get her attention and ask for ours. Overall, I'm very disappointed in the customer service. We will not be returning (which my friend who had been there before said this wasn't the first time she had an experience like that there). I hope they see this and make an effort to treat & care for all...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. I have worked in the hospitality industry my entire life and understand high demand and dealing with a busy restaurant. It started off with not only a hour wait when we were told that it would be a maximum of 20 minutes but after we were seated the waitress informed us that 70% of the menu was no longer available. Okay… frustrating but not the end of the world. We managed to find something to order what was available off the already small but now very VERY limited menu. We ordered a sandwich and waffles. Could not possibly take longer than 30 minuted to make. We then proceeded to wait an hour and I politely went to our waitress to ask how much longer it would take our food to be ready she proceeded to let me know that food takes a long time to make and to get over it. The tables next to us then got served their food, which was the exact same as we ordered, even though they sat down 30 minutes later than us. I have never in my life gotten up from a restaurant and left before I received my food but after the waitress informed me that it was my problem and to deal with it, I can now say I have done just that. Was one of the worst displays of customer service I have ever experienced. I wish I could say that the food was at least halfway decent to give some reprieve to this horrendously awful display of hospitality but I cannot. I do not recommend going to this restaurant at all!! I do recommend management has a conversation with their waitstaff on how to treat the customers they are serving. Indianapolis is a wonderful city with fantastic restaurants. Spend your time enjoying them and go...
