As a small business owner, I understand the importance of treating customers with respect. This did not happen while I was there on Saturday evening. I arrived with a mask on, and took it off once I got settled in and took a drink. I was standing there and a bigger gentleman with long hair and glasses came up to me. He informed me that I needed to wear my mask while I was in there, unless I was going to take a sip, in which case I would take the mask off, take a sip, and put it back on. This wasn't necessary if I was sitting down per him. I was sort of in disbelief since that doesn't make all that much sense. I walked over about 5 feet to ask a couple of friends if they were under the same impression, as well as set my drink down on a table to get the mask back on. Once I got there, I was met by this gentleman again. He raised his voice and I was told that if I was going to blatantly disregard their rules, that he would ask me to leave. I asked him if he was serious, since he talked to me like I was about 5 years old in a really condescending and rude way. He just repeated the same thing and continued to berate me in front of everyone. To be honest, I've never been talked to like this before at any store. I am a 38 year old man with an 8 year old son (who I have never talked to like this) and wasn't rude to this gentleman in the slightest. I was blown away at how he spoke to me. I have no issues wearing a mask, I just wish he had approached the issue differently and explained their stance, versus talking to me like that. Bars and restaurants have been hit the hardest by Covid, so it didn't make any sense to me why he would be treating customers like this. I'd ask that someone have a chat with this guy about his overall attitude and demeanor because he clearly had a chip on his shoulder and is enjoying the power that he might have. You might also ask him to set a good example and wear rubber gloves while he's...
Read moreFirst time visiting this place. Night started out ok, but did not end well. We ordered four drinks, one of which was a plain pineapple juice. Drink had a lot of sediment in the bottom. Bartender said it needed to be "changed". After it was "changed", the drink looked weak. After tasting, it was not good. Bartender offered a Coca-Cola instead and apologized for the bad pineapple juice. Now on to video games. Because of "social distancing" only every other video game was operable. There was one particular video game that was "not operable", turned off. We asked if that video game could be turned on and the other one turned off? Bartender contacted manager. Manager responded NO, because of "social distancing". Now on to the pinball machines. These were located in the back of the business. There were MANY pinball machines, two rows of them all right next to each other. EVERY PINBALL MACHINE WAS IN USE. NO "SOCIAL DISTANCING" WAS BEING OBSERVED WITH THE PINBALL MACHINES! When this point was brought to the attention of the manager, why were ALL pinball machines in use and NO SOCIAL DISTANCING was being observed but yet only EVERY OTHER video game was operable BECAUSE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING, manager responded with "Well that's just the way it is." We were getting ready to leave this business, after spending approximately $60 to $80. We said to him that didn't seem right to have all pinball machines in use but only every other video game, because we had asked about having one video game turned off and the other one turned on, manager responded again, "that's just the way it is and not to come back!" Well that business need not worry, I WILL NOT GO BACK! BUT on a positive note, the business was clean and in an area of town with a lot of other nice looking, well attended businesses. Area looked to be an up and coming area. Tappers Arcade in Fountain Square area of downtown...
Read moreI regularly travel all across the country for my current job. That being said I've been to plenty of arcade/bars. I'm also from the Philadelphia area which is home to the original Barcade, I've been to a few of those in New York, and along with all of the bar/arcades that I've visited around the country I have to state that this one absolutely stands out.
There was one near Miami Florida that has probably the best niche Japanese selection of games I've ever seen, but this place in Indy stands out as having the best cared for machines. And since it's a place that also does have a great selection, the fact that everything works SO well is nothing short of amazing.
The litmus test for me was Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, this amazing game was one of my absolute favorites as a youth, but I gotta say, until I had gone to Tappers, I was certain that actually enjoying the game "as it was in it's day" was something I would never again be able to do. At Tappers the joy stick on this game was ACTUALLY accurate, smooth, and responsive! And I gotta stress, this game is everywhere, but this is the only place I'll go to play it. The mechanics here very clearly care about taking proper care of their hardware.
I was there on a weekday and got acquainted with one of the staff members who has been there from the start of the business. Adrian(sorry if I'm spelling your name wrong dude ha ha). But yea, hanging and talking games, and all sorts of other stuff was great, it was like just hanging out with a friend.
I enjoy beer, but it's not something I would call myself a sommelier of, so from my layman's perspective the drinks were fine.
If you enjoy gaming, do yourself a favor and visit this place. 10 out of 10, 5 stars, two thumbs up, HIGHLY...
