Summary: good food, poor service.
I'm going to start with the food. We got a little bit of everything (pizza, burgers, nachos) cause we were with friends. The chicken cordon Bleu sandwich was great. My wife's burger was just alright. The sausage pizza we got was pretty good.
The thing that ruined our time there was the service. We waited to be seated for 30ish minutes (which I'd expect anywhere during busy hours so that wasn't an issue). However, when we sat down, it took a good 10 minutes before our waiter even came over to ask for our drinks. She mentioned there were appetizers and we had already looked at the menu and were ready but she got our drink order and promptly left.
She brought back the drinks and then left again without saying anything. So we waited longer to place an order. Many of us finished our drinks before the waiter ever came back. As a matter of fact, our drinks wouldnt have been refilled had a manager not come over and asked if we wanted more.
Finally the waiter comes back and takes our orders and we also asked for a booster seat for the child in our party. We received a high chair on wheels. The wheels didn't have locks and the floors, both outside and inside, were bare, making them very easy to slide on. I understand the convenience of it for the workers but at the same time it was a bit of a pain to continually manage a rolling high chair.
The waiter came back with plates for the appetizer, and throughout the night, would continue to place things solely in front of the child. Not even a minute after getting our food, she brought us our checks.
If we wanted anything throughout the night, we'd have to ask anyone else. She was absent most of the night. Never did she clear away any of the appetizer/other empty plates so we ended up needing to pull a chair over to our table and pile them on the chair. Multiple times we saw her near our table but she never asked us how the food was, if we wanted drinks, if we needed...
Read moreWe were up on the Northside during the Dine out for Life and decided to give Arni's a try. I've never been to Arni's up here or on the Southside so I really didn't know what to expect.
I made a reservation as I was unsure just how busy of a location this was going to be. When we arrived there were plenty of tables available but I always like making a reservation. It makes me feel important.
We were seated in between two rather large groups - so the noise level in my opinion was a little louder but not anything crazy and over the top. Our waitress came out right away and took our drink order. She also was taking care of the two large parties on both sides of us, so I was more forgiving when things took longer than I thought they should.
We started with the loaded fries as an appetizer. While waiting for the fries to come out she took our main order. I noticed that the table next to us had a lady who was eating a burger that I thought looked pretty good. So I asked our waitress was she was having and turns out that I ended up with the pretzel burger. I went with onion rings as the side as fries gets old after awhile.
The fries were great. They were covered in cheese, bacon, ranch, and all sorts of stuff that probably isn't all that good for you. About the time that we finished the fries our main course came out. I liked the burger...it had good flavor and was not disappointing. The onion rings were the big ones that I just love. Everything was cooked well and had good flavor.
The only downside during dinner was that our drinks went empty a couple times and our server would go MIA from time to time.
The dinning room was clean and I really liked the wall treatment. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained as well.
Besides the a little below average service when it comes to keeping drinks and what not I would go back again. It probably wouldn't be my top choice along 96th street - but I'd give...
Read moreI've eaten at the flagship locations in the Lafayette area for years, and theirs is far superior.
This store is in a great location and the inside is fantastically decorated and very inviting.
I had a serious issue with my pizza and everyone on the staff took it very seriously and handled it professionally and with great courtesy. They even remade my pizza after giving me a refund. I appreciated that.
The pizza's taste was ok, but sadly this location uses a conveyer belt like Domino's and I think the quality suffers greatly from it. Pizza like this needs an old-school stone oven.
The temp is too hot or the conveyor too slow because the pizza came out both times with the cheese melted a bit too dark. Thin crust at Domino's suffers from the same problems for the same reasons.
There was also not a lot of sausage on top like I'm used to from other locations.
I wish quality control of the franchise would be more carefully monitored. I've noticed that locations further from Lafayette have a lot more items on their menu, and the focus has moved away from what used to be the star of the show: the pizza.
I don't get to visit Arni's as often as I'd like since I moved out of state so when I find one I always hope it will feed my craving for that memory of great pizza you can't get anywhere else but Indiana. This location...
