I experienced the WORST service I have ever had here. After years in the restaurant industry, I consider myself to be extremely patient, understanding, and overall very polite when dining out. When our server approached us, I greeted her with a smile and asked how she was doing, and her response was: "my name is Joanie, what do you want to drink". Knowing how stressful the service industry is, we kept our smiles and were even more polite in hopes that we could elevate her mood. Instead she continued to be inattentive and rude.. AND WE WERE THE ONLY TABLE IN THE RESTAURANT. I ordered soup as my first course and unfortunately didn't enjoy the taste, and pushed the soup to the edge of the table to let her know something was wrong. She never came back to check on us, and when she brought our next course, she ignored my untouched soup that I made clear that I didn't enjoy. At this point, I felt so unwelcome that I didn't even bother making it an issue. Then, while were still in the middle of our meal, she approached us and asked if we were together or separate, while we both still were chewing! I immediately wanted to leave. We paid our bill, including the soup I had one sip of, and left. She didn't ask us one time how we were enjoying anything, didn't show any sort of friendliness, AND WE WERE STILL NICE TO HER!!! It baffles me that she's employed. The rest of the food was delicious, (the soup was just not my thing) and reasonably priced, so I would like to come back... as long as Joanie is...
Read moreThe physical site has the same familiar "look", the menu is the same, but there's something about this location which "feels" different. Not necessarily good or bad, just different. The food was prepared very well and my family of four have had years of pleasant experiences here. At one point, however, I had a preference for the Broad Ripple location, which prepared some of our favorite menu items just a little bit differently or more to our liking. However, our last experience at that location was disappointing as we learned that it is run independently from the 96th Street location and have changed their menu and all of our food was prepared in the back kitchen out-of-sight and I found a hair in my sushi for the first time, too. But I love Naked Tchopstix so we decided to give the 96th Street location another try and found ourselves satisfied. I tried the Seared Tuna Salad for the first time. I would normally load myself with one of the multi-sushi sets, but this salad's description looked good in the menu and the fact that it had asparagus and a mildly-sweet wasabi dressing sounded appetizing. I took a photo of my plate after I had eaten one of the tuna slices and so I had to rearrange the remaining four slices to make the picture look more symmetrical! The salad was delicious by the way, although, if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably stick with the sushi sets because I'm more into eating fish then...
Read moreGreat food and service! (from my last review)
Went back again tonight while waiting for my car at the dealership accross the street. Started out okay. 3 tables all seated together with the restaurant empty.... Oh well.. Ordered Korean Chirashi which was rice with salad greens over the top and a variety of raw fish. As I started eating it I realized that I had a mouth full of rotted salad greens. I waited about 5 minutes and did not see the waiter. I sorted through and pulled out all the rotted greens (about half of the dark greens) and continued to eat. I was about 1/4th through when the waiter appeared and asked how it was (not observing the white plate with the dark rotted greens). I showed him the plate and told him that it was not good for a place that served raw fish to call freshness of anything into question. He chuckled and went back to the kitchen. I assumed he was going to report the incident or do something but he did not come back. when I was finished he came to the table to pick up the check and asked how everything was. I told him it was the first time in twenty years I had not left a tip and he asked why. Idiots. The sushi "chef" and the waiter. Always hard to have and...
