Let me preface this by saying, the owner has responded to my review. They say they have "reviewed the tapes," but the fact of the matter is that we never mentioned what time of day, what day, or even month we had this experience. This person doesn’t even know what we look like! So I believe this is what you call a liar or a manipulator.
Whether or not it is a He/She/Xe does not matter. She or he or xe calls me Ick the entire review. And my name is Ike, so great joke! I have totally never heard that one before. (Sarcasm, obviously). For the record, I have heard 3rd graders come up with way funnier s**t than that before. That insult was as bad as the jasmine rice my wife had, and that stuff was pretty unpleasant to say the least.
Also, the owner couldn’t’ve been more childish in her response, so that should tell you about her character and where her heart is. Also, I just wanted to say if the guy limping around and cussing has Tourette’s Syndrome or something then I don’t want to make fun of that person. I don’t make fun of those with true disabilities. I just don’t understand how he is allowed to roam around saying ‘F’ this and ‘F’ that.
So just keep in mind how childish this owner is in their response. And AGAIN, let me remind you, we never once stated when we had our visit there.
Let us just say that our (my wife and me) experience was the worst I have ever encountered. I can’t believe this place is in business. 1. We walked in and it took a full 3 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Yes, I did time this. Petty? Maybe. Out of the ordinary for a restaurant? Yes.
Our server was a shorter woman and I cannot remember her name. She had dark hair and medium skin. By the way, that is for description purposes only so you can be aware if you dare step inside this monstrosity of an eatery. Anyway, she barely came to the table and even scoffed at me when I asked about an item on the menu. It was the rudest thing I have ever encountered in a restaurant. Needless to say, she got a small tip, even though that goes against everything I believe as far as tipping goes.
The atmosphere is cold and creepy. The art is hideous, but I guess that is a subjective topic. Although I will say, my wife did agree the art was a little odd. But again, I am trying to be fair here, art is totally subjective. We just thought it was a bit cold.
Prices were laughable when compared to other well known breakfast restaurants in the surrounding area. The food is nothing special by any means. Idk if they forgot to spice things up or what, but it was baaaaad. My wife gagged and nearly threw up in her mouth when she had the Jasmine Rice. So there was a total waste of a meal. We acted like we took it home to save for later, but the first thing we did was throw it in the trash and laugh so hard at how bad it was.
I don’t know if this guy works here or not but someone was limping around and we heard him say the “F” word several times. So unprofessional. Seemed to be a bigger guy. But again, I am not even sure if he works here. If not, I don’t understand why he gets to limp around cussing in this restaurant.
Overall, as you can tell from this review, we did NOT have a good time. They have so much to work on that I don’t know if they can even make it. I try to be fair in my reviews, so that should tell you how bad this...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW: A2Z is absolutely one of our very favorite places on the north side. Gina and Tom are great people, and they have a great thing going here.
The food is always stellar, and I have never had anything on the menu that I didn't like. They offer much of the standard brunch fare (pancakes, omelets, potatoes, biscuits & gravy, etc.), but they also have many dishes that are more unique: the tater tot scramble (a fun way to start a morning), the crab cakes benedict (satisfying and flavorful), the A2Z sandwich (pesto & avocado!), lots of great choices. They even offer some Hawaiian dishes which are fantastic... you definitely need to try the Loco Moco, and add some grilled Spam to any of the other dishes! Their lunch plates are also really good, and they have several options that are unique... the Spam-a-roni & cheese is comfort in a bowl, and so is the chili "Mac Doggie". They have really good coffee, especially the "A2Z-style" iced coffee.
The atmosphere is also really lovely. Gina, being an artist herself, makes a point to display pieces from various local artists. She and Tom are very friendly and it is always a joy to catch up with them when we are there.
This place is a treasure and a staple on the north side. If you're looking for great local brunch, look no further!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: The crab cakes benedict was wonderful. They also feature some Hawaiian dishes as well as Spam! We will definitely be back to try...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been frequent brunchers at A2Z for the past couple years, and every time we enjoy our experience greatly! The service is always friendly, and even on their busy days, we are welcomed to a table as quick as possible. To the employees at A2Z, thank you for all that you do to ensure a wonderful dining experience.
Now let me mention the menu :) The food is all made with care, taste, and fresh ingredients. There are lots of breakfast / lunch favorites to choose from, while the owners also add new items and specials. The pricing is fair, and the portions are generous. The coffee is always flowing too. I highly recommend the crab cakes eggs benedict. SO good!
A2Z is a small local business that is big on customer service! We have had the pleasure of celebrating a few holidays here, and the restaurant is always decorated fun for the season. Our favorite time was spent on New Year’s Day this year with a group of friends (and a couple rounds of tasty mimosas, haha) Our server was so sweet, and we loved starting 2019 off right with an excellent breakfast.
To the owners Gina and Tom, thank you for creating such a special restaurant for...
