Normally love their cakes, but so incredibly disappointed in sister's birthday cake this year. Generally we order their round cakes, expensive, yes, but always beautifully decorated and very delicious. Ordered a sheet cake this time and it was tasty as always, but presentation awful. Paid 40 dollars for this cake and was told flowers would be another 10 bucks. OK fine so we opted out of the flowers, however there was absolutely nothing besides the happy birthday writing. Not even basic, simple trim on bottom or sides. Extremely disappointing. Even the most basic grocery store cake has simple trim. I wish I'd taken a picture prior to us decorating it up. The cake itself wasn't even squared off like a finished, store bought cake. Except for the large box it could have been a homemade cake, hardly looked like it had come from a bakery let alone from a bakery that usually produces such beautiful cakes. Sad experience from a place my family and I have been using and loving for years. Friend told me I should always go to Long's for sheet cakes, ok, will do that now, but not sure how I feel about going back to Boyden's for any other cakes again. Breaks my heart because my entire family loves their round cakes, but this experience was so disappointing for all of us and it left such a bad taste not even eating the yummy cake...
Read moreI live in this area and wanted a yeast donut so naturally I went I was new to the area and wanted to check them out. My first impression wasn't good. I walked in two women were behind the counter one older and one maybe early 20's, I was greeted by neither and when I was approached with what I wanted I honestly didn't feel welcomed. The icing on the cake was when I paid for my cookies and yeast donuts I reached my hand out to get my change and she laid in on the glass countertop. Okay maybe a bad day I thought we all have those. A few days later I wanted a can Pepsi because that's one of the many bad eating habits I'm trying to break so I decided to go there and get one versus Kroger and a 12 or 24 pack. These women are rude I tried the three strikes your out policy. SO I would rather use more gas and drive to Longs bakery then give them my money. The sad part about it was my insurance agent was telling me how he grew up in this area and enjoyed coming to pick up my premiums so he would have an excuse to stop in so I was hearing great things. Please I wish I would give somebody my hard earned money and they don't have enough common courtesy to greet me when I walk in their establishment. I only gave them 1 star because that's the only way I could post my review I didn't want to...
Read moreThe treats are hit and miss, most cookies aren't very good but the brownies and specialty treats like alligators are delicious. My biggest problem with them is their customer service, the last three times I've been in there has been confusion over prices between what I assume is new employees working the register vs who I think is the owner or manager (thin, blonde woman). The owner or whoever is she is quite short with people, not just her employees but customers as well. I would describe her as snappy, as if she is expecting a confrontation at any moment. My last visit, I asked about the smiley face cookies (none in the display case) and the owner snapped at me before I could finish the sentence that "We don't have those right now, we have Valentines sugar cookies and they taste the exact same." Ok...but no they dont. Smiley cookies have a bit of chocolate icing on them and the valentines were just basic sugar cookies. Not a huge deal but every time I visit this lady is snapping at someone. The products aren't good enough to deal with an unfriendly manager. I'd rather pay the extra money and...
