We visited this Golden Corral restaurant on Saturday, February 24 with a party of seven. The restaurant was crowded and the servers were quite busy; understandably. We were seated near the exit on the back right corner just beyond the dessert section. The table was not wiped down, the floor was littered with food, trash, and crumbs; we even saw whole rolls and large pieces of food on the floor.
Our server was not present when we were seated and enough time passed that we had to search out an employee to find him to get silverware. A very nice employee from the kitchen came over and brought us some forks and she was kind enough to sweep up the area. She notified the server, but he made no effort to address our table. There were other people seated after us that he attended to most immediately while we still waited for our drinks and knives. There was another table in our immediate area, and he seemed attentive to them as well. When he finally came over, we asked if he would wipe off our table and he went into a rant about how busy he was and how he wasn't being tipped; but he never cleaned the table. NOTE: Tipping is a courtesy for GOOD service; and apparently his angst was with another party and had nothing to do with us.
One of the people in our party had to chase him down for our drinks and knives. He was very rude and not very hospitable toward us, but we witnessed that he went out of his way to cater to tables of nationalities/ethnicities similar to his own. He conversed very friendly with them in their native tongue. He only came to our table after multiple people in our party flagged him down. On several occasions, he ignored that we were trying to get his attention and seemed annoyed that we were asking for service.
At one point, we asked for beverage refills and he closed his eyes, slapped his hand to his head and engaged a huge dramatization over the drinks. We also witnessed him being argumentative with other servers and customers. His section was filthy and he shuffled dirty dishes from table to table and seemed reluctant to clear space for new parties. One of the other servers mentioned an incoming party of eight and his arms were flailing and he threw a mini tantrum. She offered to clean the tables for him and even stated that she would take them if she had room in her section. Another couple stood up to ask him to clean the table and he put on another show while they stood and waited for him to decide to clean it before they could sit down. Another table asked for clean silverware and he tossed it in her direction.
While we understand that the restaurant was busy, there were many areas that were not kept. The dessert station was atrocious and the ice cream serving station was horrendous. Small children were refilling their half eaten cones and revisiting the station unattended. We weren't even able to have ice cream because there were cones shoved in the serving basin. We have frequented this location several times and we even placed many online orders. Until today, we have had pleasurable servers and decent encounters at this location.
There were seven of us and we spent nearly $150 to be mistreated; and not receive even the standard of service expected. We cleaned up our own area; to the extent that we used ice cubes from our drinks to wet the napkins to wipe down the table. We still tried to make the best of our evening; however, as a result of the events of this visit we were sorely displeased and have no plans to return. The lack of quality was nothing short of insulting; and we were very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was there last week and there was no chicken breast, no macaroni and cheese but Plenty of attitude from the dessert attendant. I don't know if she hoards the chocolate pie for herself but her attitude when I ask if she can put some out it ridiculous. She's also unsanitary. She doesn't change her gloves and takes her dirty gloves and put them on each piece of pie she cuts, then yell me," if I don't like it don't eat it" That's disgusting and rude. It's dirty. The beverage area smell like dirty rag and vomit. They talk over the ice. I bring my own drink and had been eating there bc my son and I ate there and I think of him and I love the pie but it's just ridiculous now, the buttermilk chicken that used to be Delicious is now, soggy, taste stale and has been cold the last couple of times I was there and I seriously think they ate taking the One thing that is good and fresh, the pie and taking it fir themselves. That Etna, she must feel she has serious job security bc she is always snotty an rude. I'm in search of my pie somewhere else because the filth is not worth it. Cups looked like they hadn't been cleaned. Mel was the only bright spot, he's an awesome server, so respectful and courteous. He saw that I was just standing there waiting on Etna to refill the bread and that I was getting ready to settle for the pieces that looked old and cold and he said" naw don't get those, I'll get you some fresh bread" He was awesome but the board of health might close you all down. The floor behind the buffet is always wet and disgusting, the serve wristlet over each load of chicken he brings out, thanks for the spit and when you're waiting on chicken he brings out some random batch that's Always cold. I now try to go early, hoping fir fresh quality food but it was 12:30 on a Tuesday and there was no macaroni and cheese or chicken breast, how does that even happen. I spoke with the manager, she said it hard to find good help well discipline your rude employees and maybe others will want to work there. The other desserts taste stale. I use to love the Carrot cake, now I spit it out every time bc I don't want that in my system. That women needs to be watched, she took a knife that was in water with about 7 other knifes and spread a fork full of whip topping ( they were out of whip topping as well, I guess)on the pie I had to beg them to bring out of the freezer. That's not sanitary. I hope you all will clean it up and bring it back to it glory or I never get salad anymore bc they never switch their gloves and and they pushing that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI think I have been cured of ever eating at a Golden Corral again in my life. I haven't been to a GC in maybe two years. Been here in the Indy area for about a year and a half and had been hankering for a visit to CG for a while... so I went today. It was a 30 minute drive to and from. I won't be making it again. My protein go to is usually Shrimp and I found fried there. Gone are the days of Chicken Livers. They used to remind me of my mom and how that was a special meal that we didn't have all the time. The way CG used to make them was very close to how she used to. So, here I was with fried shrimp and looking forward to going back for more later. I also found the Mac and cheese and one look told me I was going to be disappointed. It looked watered down and bland. I guess the days of something that actually looked like cheese with a layer of cheese baked on top are over too. I added some veggies and sat down. I was right about the Mac and cheese. Bland. The shrimp I was at least excited about?? Something didn't taste right. They weren't burnt.... but they tasted like it. I choked as many as I could down. I left a couple. I just couldn't. I went back and found fried okra... don't know why I thought that would be any different than the shrimp. Again, not burned, but tasted like it. The yeast rolls I used to love and fill up on?? Just balloons with the layer of crust raised over a little bit of soft bread that almost disintegrates when you cut it with the knife and put nearly melted nasty margarine over it.
Y'all, seriously. I didn't even pay a dinner price with a senior citizen discount $16 +.... Ever since I left Georgia almost 8 years ago, the quality of GC has just.... plummeted.... and that's so sad to me. When my dad was alive, his waitress, a lovely woman named Karen would update me on my Dad and how he was doing. Told me sometimes he would be in there with my stepmom twice a day.... and I was ok with that. Because at least I knew someone was watching out for him and they had PLENTY of high quality foods to choose from. If that was the case today, I would be very worried. Because THIS isn't the GC I knew once upon a time. Over the years the food quality has just gone down the drain. They've cut corners and obviously don't stay on top of oil vats anymore. No more Golden Corral for me anymore. I'm not going to part with my hard earned money if this is what they are...
