The store front is modest. They just opened in February and are just getting going. The decor is very basic and they have just a few tables with chairs. Be aware that they are VERY busy so the tables are all likely to be full.
Staff is quite polite and friendly. They make it clear they'll get to you as soon as they can. They love to make what they sell and it shows in the conversations you can have with them.
And it's apparent in the quality of the ingredients. For my first visit today, I got scoops of chocolate and strawberry after sampling the cornbread ice cream (more on that in a bit). Both have an outstanding texture and mouth feel. They are creamy and soft with no hint of ice crystals or melt/refreeze you can get in old containers at chain stores. They are NOT stinting on the real cream here. If they do use some kind of gum or gelatin, it's minimal.
The chocolate deserve it's own paragraph, it was that good! It's apparently a dutch cocoa and it's everything a chocoholic would die for. It's a must-add to any order unless you're cruelly allergic.
The strawberry is also quite nice and has small chunks of strawberries in it. It's clear that it's flavored from actual fruit that's ALL strawberries. It's also a great choice.
The cornbread is a vanilla base with corn meal added to it. It has a bit of cornbread flavor to it but can probably use some additional work to bring that out more somehow.
The only reason the atmosphere doesn't get 5 stars is it's still pretty basic. It's a great place to take the family but a bit basic to take a date you're still getting to know.
For now, I hope that they prioritize adding more refrigerated bins so that they could expand their selection and staff. They are DEFINITELY going to be busy this summer.
And yeah, I'll be back. Screw the diet, the six...
Read moreHeartland Homemade Ice Cream is an absolute must for any ice cream lover. It is absolutely SENSATIONAL ice cream. Like change your entire perspective of just how perfectly rich, sweet, smooth and delicious ice cream could possibly be SENSATIONAL. Locally owned and operated with ice cream hand made on premises being served by the very hands that made it. My daughter and I went tonight after a Dad and Daughter dance. I had Cookies and Cream, and she a flight consisting of mint chip, strawberry, black raspberry chip, strawberry, and rainbow crunch. I love ice cream and cookies and cream is my favorite. When traveling for work or pleasure, trying local craft ice cream is always one of my favorite things to do and I have tried A LOT of great ice creams from some pretty iconic spots. On ice cream alone, this is the BEST cookies and cream ice cream I have EVER tasted. (I am doubtful anyplace will EVER beat my favorite dessert, if not overall food, would be part of my last meal on earth, chocolate soda with scoop of cookies and cream from Jaxson's Famous in Hollywood Fl.), but on the ice cream alone, Jaxson's cookies and cream is now #2. All the other flavors were likewise phenomenal with a special mention to rainbow chip. Skittles ground into the ice cream itself, and freeze dried skittles mixed in, providing this amazing sweet softly crunchy textured bits throughout. Genius in its innovation and execution. No pictures because we were just too enamored eating it. Took two pints home to share with the rest of the family and am now sure to be a regular. The reactions and discussions of every other customer there shared my sentiments. Go there as soon as you can and experience ice...

Beyond the incredible flavors, what really makes this place special is the people. The owner and employees are so kind and clearly care deeply about what they do. They take the time to chat, offer samples, and make everyone feel welcomeâlike youâre part of the family.
And best of all? The prices are totally affordable, especially considering the quality and creativity that goes into every single scoop. You get big flavors, generous portions, and a truly one-of-a-kind experience without breaking the bank.
