If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Let me just say, the reviews of this place are HIGHLY deceiving. The only reason we went was because of the high rating and we were severely disappointed. First off, you walk in and you’re not told to do anything. You pay, you find your own table and get your own drinks. And of course you grab your own food, but that’s to be expected at a buffet. The food all looked fresh and it looked like they were restocking the food pretty often. Looks can be deceiving. With my first plate of food I found that I liked NOTHING. The meat had a strange taste and had a super stringy texture. The crab rangoons had little filling and the taste was somewhat sour, as if the cream cheese filling had gone bad.
The vegetable lo mein didn’t even taste like how it does at other places. The noodles were slimy, overcooked, and just gross. My friend and my fiancé were discovering that they didn’t like their food as well. Everything we tried seemed to taste awful. Everything was greasy, even the fried rice had a weird film of grease on it. After being severely disappointed with the food, we all decided to try some of the desserts in hopes they’d be better.
We tried some of the banana pudding and I just had to gag. It was SOUR. What kind of pudding is sour? The flavors we were getting from these foods were so odd and gross. Then we thought “let’s try the ice cream, that can’t be bad”. News flash, it was. How can you make ice cream bad? It didn’t even taste like how normal soft serve does, it had such a weird flavor. There were no toppings or any other flavors besides vanilla. It was so artificial tasting. After trying some of the mini cakes I felt better because those were decent but they were the only decent things that I had tried the entire time we had been there and we had spent a good amount of money on this buffet.
There were no napkins on any of the tables. The pepper didn’t even look like pepper, looked like pepper that had been severely grounded down into a powder. All of the stuff we had was just gross. I can’t even tell you the amount of times we gagged or almost had to spit out this food.
I never leave reviews like this but I had to about this place. Please, don’t waste your money on food like this when you can get much better somewhere else. All of us felt very sick afterwards and at this point I’m hoping we all are able to avoid getting food poisoning. The only thing that tasted legit here were the soft drinks and those were truly the only thing...
Read moreSo you walk in and pay before eating I wasn't expecting that. Then the not so friendly woman points to the fountain drink machine and the food. I was expecting to be shown to a table. I sat close to the drink machine and as it turns out it's all completely self service. You refill your own drink. I left a $3 tip on my card. I wasn't sure what to do paying first before eating. Next time no tip. NOW on to the food on the buffet! DISCLAIMER I'm not a very good food critic and eat almost anything! The food was good! I typically try and hit these buffets around noon right after they open. I arrived just after 6pm Sunday. They close at 9:30pm. The buffet was well stocked and the temperature/texture/taste seemed perfect to me on everything I tried. The garlic bread was great went back for a second piece. The meat on a stick was soft inside even though I could see it had been out for a while based on the dry looking outer coating, but that didn't matter it was still good. I'm sure I'll be back one day and I would definitely recommend trying it. For under $10 drink included (no tip) I say it has value and is better than the one I have been to many times in Plainfield by a long shot. 4 stars because of the awkward help yourself completely...
Read moreMy fiancé decided to take me and our kiddos here after a trip to Walmart, I wanted Fazoli’s but it was 3 against 1 so I lost.
Immediately upon walking into the restaurant I wasn’t impressed. The floors were sticky and the buffet didn’t have what I normally enjoy eating (rice noodles and fish). I wasn’t paying for it so I kept my mouth shut and grabbed a plate.
Half of the items on the buffet were old. The fried rice had hard pieces in it, the hot and sour soup had an overwhelming taste of pepper, the chicken on the stick was dry and chewy, the crab ragoon had more cream cheese than anything, and the egg rolls tasted like they needed to cook a little longer. I did like the crab with cheese mixture, the teriyaki chicken and the white rice. That was about it.
My fiancé isn’t picky and will usually enjoy just about anything, and even he didn’t like it. His exact words were “this place sucks”. I gave him the “you should’ve listened to me face” and thanked him for treating us to dinner.
On the way home the kiddos and I told him he can no longer choose where we eat even if he’s paying lol.
Don’t waste your time nor money eating here, plenty of other Chinese buffets with...
