Read moreI paid for the room via hotels.com. I opted to pay online as I was assured there'd be no deposit. It was everything we had at the moment. We got a ride, and unpacked our things so our friends could bounce. I went in to pay and was informed of the 50 deposit. I was upset, found out it was a bit of misdirection. This was all before 3pm. We sat outside, pouring through everything, and every Avenue until about 8pm. Our new friends offered to pay the deposit. (Later we were informed that this corporate Red Roof didn't want to rent to us. Not the first clue to the blatant discrimination my boyfriend and I met.) On the 2nd day, to be our last, regardless of the later known fact that they'd DNR'd us. For this reason: Apparently, they called us on the hotel phone several times. Around 11 or so we had a knock, which woke us up. Then another, this gem was front desk girl Kaylee. Or however it's spelled. She informed us, without any explanation, tat we had 5 mins before cops were called. Obviously this agitated us. They amended their explanation to his mom, they said they'd knocked all morning.. They didn't. They called the BROKEN hotel phone for our room. This girl was incredibly rude, right out of the box to everyone. Obviously a stuck-up, profiling, sheltered debutante with zero ability to realize people end up in situations through little to no fault of their own. My boyfriend was in food service before covid. A lot of people not only lost their jobs during covid, but their lives. Their homes. Their stability. It's difficult to maintain stable employment when a person is constantly moving. Struggling. Catching odd jobs, and switching hotels BC the deal from the day before is no longer valid. It's even harder... When society takes a narrow-minded, spoon-fed point-of-view to certain people BC they for the profile of some horror story from the news. You can't judge an entire group of people based on the actions of a few. A lot of the poorest people I know... Are the most generous, kind, understanding people you could ever meet. Like parts of my family. I come from poverty down south. I was ROBBED several times.. Including 450 on Christmas Eve by the Travelodge by Wyndam in Bloomington. I haven't seen my kids in a over a month for looking for work, stability, and maybe a future outside of my small town. Every person is different. Different pasts, experiences, drawbacks, and/or opportunities. Whatever way of life works for one person, may not be right for another. This isn't ideal, it's not easy, it's not always fun... But it's a CHANCE. We've met the most incredible people, and, obviously, the nastiest... but the journey, not the destination, is key. Through hardship, trial and error, we develop character. Character is what too many people in this day and age are lacking. Don't look down on a person unless you know, without a doubt, what their...

Do you want your personal information to stay personal? Would you like to actually have a room when you arrive for your reservation? Then don't stay at the Red Roof Inn Indianapolis South location.
When I arrived to check in for my reservation in December, the front desk staff had apparently mistaken someone else who came in earlier in the day for me and allowed them to check in under my name/reservation because they had the same first name and first letter of their last name (middle initial and remainder of last name were different). How this happens when they are supposed to check everyone's driver's license is unknown, but effectively this means they handed them my sign-in sheet with my personal information on it to sign, which they did sign...and that when I came to check in hours later, there was no room for me (Big 10 game in town) so they turned me away and I had to drive hours home because the whole city was booked up. Before I left the front desk assured me they did at least wipe my information off the room...but the receipt which they handed the unknown room occupant the next day still had my personal information on it, which I know because it was cross-filed under my online account along with the last four digits of their credit card number.
When contacted directly, the site owner denied that this ever happened, and claimed that when she reviewed the tape she saw the person checking in and out and said clearly I was given the room...because she watched the video of whoever signed into my reservation in my place and apparently couldn't figure out the difference even though the time stamp on the video clearly did not match when I entered hours later to check in and was turned away, which the video would also clearly depict. They have the other person's credit card info and saw their DL and presumably have parking lot cameras which would have captured both our vehicles and license plate #s...this is not a difficult case yet all responsibility is denied.
So in short...make a reservation at this site only if you have a backup place to stay in case they suddenly don't have a room for you, and don't mind your personal information being handed to anyone who walks in the door (both ways...this person was given my personal information and I was given the last 4 of their CC# so even if you think your check in was uneventful, your information could be anywhere). If they hadn't been completely booked, it's entirely possible they would have just quietly booked me into another room and I would have no idea this...
