Day #3 Indianapolis Addition I'm not sure where to begin with this review.
The Juicy Seafood is a seafood spot with several locations around the Indianapolis area and came recommended by a local. Their aim is to provide fresh seafood free of additives to preserve its original flavor and taste. This was a hit or miss.
Since we had a long day of competition judge and facilitating which brought us to this fine city, we decided to place our order online for pickup. The online ordering was pretty easy and straight forward, except for the fact that you CANNOT pay online! So you order gets placed to the restaurant and you pay when you get there. Naturally, we waited 20 minutes before heading over so that we would arrive close to the time the seafood should have been ready. When we arrived, the staff for very kind and polite. Unfortunately, our order was not ready. As a matter of fact, they hadn't even BEGUN to prepare it! Although you can order online, they do not prepare your order until you have arrived at the restaurant and paid for your order. WHAT'S THE POINT!! This was super frustrating because we placed our order at 7:11pm, but did not receive our order until 8:47pm! You might as well order at the restaurant, since AHEAD has somewhat of a different meaning. Moving on to the food.
My Chef de Cuisine order Onion Rings and his favorite Clam Chowder. Well, the Clam Chowder was too thin and quit bland. Almost as if water was added to the batch to stretch out one order on a pot that was almost gone. The Onion Rings were crunchy and pretty good, but Cold! Now that's a feat within itself. Typically, if something Battered and fried is cold, it becomes soggy. So, that's something.
Your Seafood Executive Chef had the Mr. Caption! 1/2lb Shrimp, 1 Snow Crab cluster, 1/2 lb of sausage, 2 potatos, 2 Eggs, and 1 Corn in the Juicy Sauce which is a combination of their 4 choices of sauce, and medium heat. I am very happy to say, it was really good! The sauce had just the right amount of heat. The sausage was really food and the crablegs were sweet! The shrimp was slightly overcooked, but other than that, a win!
Needless to say, You'll save yourself some time, by just going to the restaurant and placing your order. Stick to the basics. Seafood...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience. First was originally told it would be a 30-35 minute wait, but ended up waiting over an hour. Because we had a large party and it was New years eve, I wasn't too bothered by this because I figured we would have a wait. We were then seated and told that they were short staffed and a little behind. No biggie we could enjoy some drinks and appetizers in the mean time. After sitting for about 15 min, the server finally came over and took our drink and appetizer orders. He brought our drinks and took our order. Then after that, our server disappeared. We received our appetizers from another employee which were great, but then we sat with empty drinks for at least 40 minutes. A person from my party got up and searched for our server who was at the front sorting receipts, and asked if we could get some refills. He brushed her off and said he'd be over in a minute. 15 minutes went by and he still hadn't came by and still no food. Then another group who had been seated roughly 30 minutes after us, received their food. We asked another server if we could speak with a manager. As we waited for about another 5 minutes for the manager, the food finally arrived with our drink refills, from another server. The manager along with our server came over and we voiced our complaints. The server said you were told we were behind and it would take awhile. I told him yes we were but that doesnt mean we should have to wait 40 minutes for a refill. He replied "well your drinks are right here". He also made the comment "well their food is here, they have no choice now". Mind you the food was not served yet and still sitting on the trays. The manager said she could not remove the automatic 18% tip but could get us a new server. Unacceptable and after the smart elic responses from the server, we decided to pay for our drinks and appetizers and leave. Will never return. It's a shame because we had heard the food was great but if the service is this...
Read moreThe food was good. The wait was quicker than I expected since it seemed packed when we came in. The waitress was nice. But I had one concern and I was confused about how it all played out. My wife ordered crab & sausage but they brought an order of lobster tail & crab to her. My wife started to eat and realized this was the wrong order and said something to the waitress. We assured to the waitress that we didn't mind that the order was wrong but we didn't want to be charged for what would have been about $10 more expensive. The waitress told us that managements policy is that: "You have to be charged for whatever you are brought so if you don't exchange your food (that my wife had already stuck her hands on) you will be charged for the more expensive meal." I asked what happens to the food if we send it back and she didn't have an answer.
The only way this makes sense is if they reserve the food that had already been touched by my wife OR the waitress put the wrong order in and didn't want to suffer the consequences of putting the wrong order in and instead wanted to tell the kitchen staff that we ordered the wrong food. Either way, this isn't the way a situation like this should have been handled. We paid the extra $10 for her meal and moved on with life but it will be the last bit of money I spend here. I don't wanna eat someone else's returned food and I don't want to be charged for a meal I did not order.
As a further note, we checked the receipt to see what order came up on the receipt to be sure this wasn't a mix-up in the kitchen. No, the waitress put the wrong order in. She charged us for one of the more expensive meals on the menu and did nothing to make that right for us. Because of that I am lead to believe this was done intentionally to either forcefully upsale us more expensive food or more likely get a higher bill to garner a higher tip. Regardless, this is unacceptable and we will not...
