IHOP — Restaurant in Indianapolis

I really, really hate leaving negative reviews. I never leave a review after only one visit because I believe that one poor visit could just be a one-off for a place. However I have had consistent negative experiences at this particular location. About 50% of time the orders are correct, and the other 50% they are nowhere near. I have had to go orders that were completely messed up and I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to correct it. When we sit down it tends to be better but only just. Today might be the worst yet. I arrived and found that my food is ready but there was no one at the front counter even though there was only one couple seated in the restroom. There was one kitchen staff member standing to the side texting on his phone who never made any attempt at eye contact. Eventually a guy came up to help me and handed me my order. I had ordered the hash browns well done and the big steak omelette. The Omelette look fine but the hash browns were extremely pale, almost on the side of not being fully cooked. I asked the guy if this was the standard color for well done hash browns and he said no and went to correct it. Another gentleman walks in behind me and stands in line and after about 5 minutes asked if I've been helped. I told him that I had but they had not been back in quite some time so he took it upon himself to walk back to the entrance of the kitchen in yell in to get someone's attention. Eventually the same employee came back out and handed me my new hash browns which were, again, barely cooked. By this point I said whatever and just walked out. This isn't the first time it has happened and it's really frustrating. You had 1 couple in the restaurant and 2 people with to go orders, there is no reason for such poor cooking. Also, they don't offer call in orders before 8am because too many people from the area call in and don't pick...

Arrived around 4 o'clock, there were steady but far from busy. Open tables everywhere, including booths. We requested a booth. The hostess looked around and asked if we were sure we wanted a booth. Told us it would take a little bit to clean off a booth. We waited, it takes no time to clean off a booth. (I served for about 8 years.) We waited about 10 minutes before my husband said something about how long we were waiting for a table. I went to the restroom with my girls to wash their hands and it was disgusting! They finally sat us after another couple minutes, at a booth that had been open and clean. We waited at our table for about 10 min before our server arrived. Valentine, our server, was polite and sweet. We went ahead and placed our whole order then bc we had already been waiting and tried to gain some time back. We were served most of our food but 5 minutes after our food came out Valentine came and told me there was no salad for my side salad. I feel like that should have been addressed before the food came out but it was fine and replaced with another side. The food was fine but it took me about another 10 min to get the side of mayo I ordered. I had already eaten most of my burger. Service has really gone downhill. It would have made sense if they were busy but they weren't. Probably won't be going back...

Overall food was good. However, the customer service was trash. First of all I called in an order.. he told me 15 to 20 min... I called 8:03 walked in the at 8:26... "Jay" then tells me "I dont think it's ready, I JUST put it in".... well if you just out it in if course it's not ready.. well then he packs my stuff up and gives me 2 syrups... if I order 2 stacks if pancakes on the side and a kids meal with pancakes... please tell me what 2 itty bitty things of syrup are gonna do for me? I asked for more and some butter and gave him my 50 dollar bill for my total of 37.41. This boy comes back says and your change is 12.00.... I said "and my change?" He then gets and attitude reaches into his back pocket and gives me the 59 cent that was also part of my change 12.59 was the total change I was to get... long story short this boy thought he was about to get me. Look. I'm all about tipping for services... however dont try to TAKE my change let me offer it to you. To just try and keep it though... nah man. You just tried to steal from.me and if you tried that with me and it was my first time there I'm willing to bet you've done it to many many more. If I was your manager and i found out you were doing all that, you would be fired. PERIOD.
