I took my husband here for his birthday dinner and specified that on my reservation. I also asked that they "make it special" for him. We dine out a lot and I understand different establishments do different things. They presented him with a birthday card indicating they were giving him a free dessert and that was all well and good. Our server was initially very nice and both my husband and I are fairly easy clients and we tip well. The problem was with no explanation or server basically disappeared. Our water glasses were empty as well as our drink glasses and we couldn't seem to get anyone's attention.
We finally caught the eye of who I assume was a floor manager and he came over and told him our situation and he immediately sent over a bus person with a water pitcher to top off our water. We still didn't have our server there for another drink order. We had also put in an appetizer order and we're waiting on that.
Once our server resurfaced and we put in our drink order she left and came back later with our drinks. I ordered a glass of champagne and my glass was dead still and dark in color. It was not champagne or if it was it wasn't fresh. We very cordially explained that to our server and she took it away to be redone. This got stranger because the floor manager then whisked over to our table with a bottle and a glass on a tray, put down the glass and said "okay here now you know it's fresh" and opened the bottle in front of us. It wasn't done in a kind way it was done in a way that made us feel like we were simply being appeased.
We were really hoping for a good experience here because we enjoy fine dining frequently and we had this one on our list for a while. As it turns out, we didn't even stay for the free dessert because the service was so bad. We tipped only 18% because it was the bare minimum.
Unfortunate that we had this experience. We really wanted to like this place. My husband was a good sport, but this was anything but...
Read moreMy husband and I visited for our anniversary and it was a wonderful experience! I love the atmosphere and decor and the service was great!
As far as the food goes, I was very pleased with everything. Since this was our first visit, we decided to share everything. I really liked their Old Fashioned, very smooth, sweet, and warm and spicy because of the cinnamon stick. The charred shrimp with avocado and curry was delicious, the shrimp are huge and have that perfect char flavor. We also tried the oyster chowder which was vey good, too, creamy and thick, and filling! For the entree, we ordered the pork chop, and at 14 oz it was plenty for us to share. It was the only part of our meal that we felt fell a little flat. It was juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked, but compared to everything else we sampled, it just didn't have that "wow" factor. However, the side we ordered to go with it was our favorite! The potato-bacon terrine was so delicious, I would probably be tempted to just order that in place of a traditional entree the next time we go! The potatoes were perfectly cooked and it had that wonderful smoky flavor from the bacon. The red pepper sauce on top had just the perfect little hint of spice. The server said it's their most popular, and I can understand why! For dessert, we had the Indiana Sugar Pie with Turkish coffee ice cream. It was VERY sweet, so if you're not a big "sweets" person, I'd recommend something else. I personally liked it, I think paired with the coffee ice cream it...
Read moreHad a very disappointing experience at Provision on August 1. Most of the dishes we ordered were decently prepared, but the sterile environment and the lack of attention to detail when it mattered most left us dissatisfied and we will not return to this restaurant.
My wife has a garlic sensitivity and made our server aware of this. Our server specifically said, “I’ll write ‘no garlic’ on your order.” When the dishes arrived, her scallops with root vegetables had garlic clove shavings unmistakably in and among the root vegetables.
We pointed this out to our server. “Yes. That’s a lot of garlic,” she said, and took the dish. The rest of our table had warm dishes, and not wanting them to get cold while we waited, the others began eating.
When the corrected dish was delivered, with the obligatory, “I’m very sorry about that,” the rest of us were nearly finished.
By the time we received our check, there was absolutely no acknowledgement from our server nor the manager of how such a lack of attention to detail disrupted our dining experience. It simply was not enjoyable. No adjustment to the check, as part of the cost is for the level of service they suggest, and no word of meaningful apology from management came at any point.
This just wasn’t the dining experience Provision projects, nor that their prices command. They advertise themselves as a “high-end pick.” We did not receive the high-end service that we paid for, and we will eat elsewhere when we’re in the...
