My advice- don't trust these people.
I recently got a new job in Chicago so I had to cancel my membership to a local studio. Wanting something flexible with a lot of locations that I could use while going back and forth between Indy and Chicago, OTF seemed like a good fit. I couldn't have been more wrong.
When I went to my first class at OTF I made it known that I would be moving to Chicago in two weeks. Although every studio in Chicago is "premium" it was never mentioned to me that the membership I was buying wouldn't work there without a surcharge (a surcharge that exceeds the additional per-class charge on a "premium" membership). Additionally, I was informed of the 30 day cancellation policy, but once again was never told that I wouldn't be able to use my membership in Chicago.
Management at this location is not your friend- they'll cheat valuable customers without remorse citing "policy". When I moved to Chicago I quickly learned all of the above. The studio there said that they often waive the 30 day cancellation fee (since I'd still be signing up at a different OTF studio!!), but the Keystone studio wouldn't budge. In fact, throughout my entire move my biggest headache was trying to just switch my membership to a different studio and get a premium membership so I could stop paying the fees.
They made me feel awful as though I was asking some huge favor even though they mislead me in the first place so I would buy a membership. And after having to check back every few days, they eventually told me that they wouldn't let me cancel and resign at the Chicago rate. So now I'm stuck paying for a membership that I can't even use unless I pay ridiculous fees.
In the end, I only went to 3 classes at this studio although they made me pay for two months. I wish I would have never stepped foot in there.
So don't believe what they tell you. If you truly believe that a membership will work for you- go ahead and buy one, but I would encourage anyone to consider other options. If you go to a local studio it'll be cheaper, you'll help the local economy, and they'll treat you like an actual human being- let alone a...
Read moreI recently tried attending a free class with a friend, and while I understand the importance of preparation for a new class, I was disappointed by the experience due to a lack of clear communication regarding the timing.
Leading up to the class, I received several reminders via email, text, and phone, which I appreciated. However, in the communications, it was mentioned that we should arrive 30 minutes early to meet the coach and learn the equipment. My friend assured me that I would have enough time if we arrived 15 minutes early instead.
To my surprise, I received a text at 5:08 PM saying I had to be there by 5:10 PM or I would need to reschedule. We arrived at 5:14 PM, and unfortunately, Ty at the door informed us I couldn’t join the class, as I had missed the cutoff. While I understand the need for prep time, I was frustrated that the strict timing policy wasn’t made clearer in the communications we received beforehand. Had I known about the hard cutoff, I would have planned accordingly.
What made the situation more difficult was the lack of empathy in the interaction. Ty was not particularly understanding of my concerns and did not offer an apology or attempt to resolve the situation. I already find workout classes intimidating, and this interaction only added to that feeling.
While I’m not upset about the 30-minute prep time itself, it would have been much more helpful if the communication had been clearer about the strict timing requirements. I won't be rescheduling, but I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests. Clearer expectations and a more understanding approach could make a...
Read moreWhere do I start? I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for this studio and or Orange Theory in general. Since my day 1 of starting here, to now I have loved every minute that I've came to class. Joining a fitness program in the middle of a Pandemic, who does that? I did and I don't regret it. From the coaches to the front desk, every single day I walk in the door, I am always greeted with a smile and someone that knows my name. You don't get that with big box gyms. The coaches are top notch, I can't name a bad coach here at all. They are so great and so amazing in every way. They have turned me to the runner I used to be, they have helped me reach my fitness goals so far and have changed my life for the better with making me mentally and physically tough! I have met some really cool people here and I am so glad to call some of the members that go here friends. I just have to shout out to my friend Olivia B who convinced me to take a class, my first coach Natalie who pushed me even harder that made me want to come back and Carlee who signed me up for the best thing to...
