The room I stayed in had a few issues, mostly in the bathroom. The bath water would not turn off and constantly leaked a steady stream, which caused maintenance to have to be in the room for almost an hour. They did offer to switch my room, but after driving for almost 12 hours prior I was exhausted and just wanted to sleep. The carpet in the room was moist and even wet in places, which I didnt notice until I got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom in my socks. The photos of the hotel did not include the bathroom, which is well below my expectations. The shower is actually pretty icky, for lack of better terms, with gapping tile work and stains everywhere. The shower was actually in such disrepair, it was unusable.
Another huge issue is the mystery stairwell at the end of the hall, which is apparently an emergency exit only with no re-entry. I cannot stress enough how important it is you label the door as such to discourage use. I always use the stairs when I can, and I thought I could use these to go down and grab something from my car. This resulted in a 30 minute panic stuck in a grimy and dark stairwell, unable to get out. I barely had cel service and couldn't look up the hotel number, so I had to climb all 12 levels trying to see someone who could help me. I ended up panicking and crying at the top, and finally got enough service to call the front desk. They told me to go all the way to the bottom, and I finally exited through a creepy hallway that was filthy and had 2 dead bats. It was the worst hotel experience I've ever had, and I spent the next hour in my room crying and shaken.
The lobby area and other public spaces are lovely, clean, and modern. The staff is very kind and attentive. The linens were spotless and the beds were very comfortable. The TV has options to use popular streaming services, which I really appreciated. While the walls were fairly thin, my neighbors weren't too noisy and I got a good night's sleep after the stairwell incident.
I'll probably never return to a Mariott, definitely not this one. Between the price (which I didnt realize wasnt even inclusive, $10 extra for wifi that was barely functional and exorbitantly priced breakfast options?) and everything I experienced, my fun few days off was really tainted. I dont have high standards usually, but this was such a disappointing and...
Read moreI was attending a conference at the Keystone Sheraton in Indianapolis. The conference has been at this location for years. The hotel is dated and in serious need of repair. At one time this felt like an upscale hotel, unfortunately not so anymore. My room was clean and had been stocked, but several things were not working properly. Unfortunately as a woman alone in the hotel, I was uncomfortable requesting repairs. I simply did not want unknown people in my room. I should have requested another room, and given them a chance to redeem themselves; I did not and that was on me. The bad: The air-conditioning was cool in the room, set at 65, which felt more like 72-75. The phone didn't work properly; it would ring, but I could not hear anyone speaking. The charger on the nightstand did not work at all; forcing me to use a wall outlet. There was NO clock in the room, so I had to get out of bed to see what time is was or not charge my phone. I heard several complaints regarding ice makers in the hotel. Apparently there were no icemakers that were present or working between floors 4-10. We were advised that the gates would be up when we were leaving, therefore we did not need to keep a key, but that was not the case. Gates were NOT up and required a key, causing a backup when leaving the parking garage.
The good: The bedding was clean and super comfortable and there were enough towels and paper products. The staff was respectful, and friendly when approached. Lunch was provided. It was tasty for a boxed meal and there was a sandwich, or wrap, salad, chips, fruit, dessert, and drink. I didn't eat any other meals at the hotel, so I can not rate the dining. It had several nice rooms for get togethers, and a nice patio area. Since I was in class all day; 8-5, I didn't use many of the amenities, therefore I didn't rate this either. The location is great. It is at the mall on the northside of Indy and has several upscale stores, Saks, Nordstroms, and Louis Vuitton, as well as many mainstream and upscale eateries. With a little work, and some money, this could be an outstanding...
Read moreI regret to say I was very dissatisfied with the condition of my room. When I entered, I saw the bed was unmade, making me wonder if the bedding had been changed. Upon further inspection, I discovered the waste baskets had not been emptied from the previous occupant. Included in the trash was a baby's soiled diaper. There was also an unfolded wash cloth on the sink. Although this wash cloth was dry, I couldn't help thinking that it too was left over from the previous occupant. Thankfully, the rest of the towels were neatly folded under the sink and showed no signs of previous use. Lastly, the bar of soap in the soap dish was also left from the previous occupant as it was already opened and I could plainly see previous signs of use. The soap dish itself also had not been cleaned. All that kept me from calling the front desk was 1) the lateness of the hour - 10:00 pm, 2) my own fatigue, and 3) the room was at the very end of the hallway, meaning I had only one neighbor, making it much more quiet. I realize this may have been an isolated incident and does not necessarily mean all rooms are kept so poorly, but it surely made a poor impression on me.
The front desk personnel were very polite and more than willing to help. The young man who helped me with checkout offered to keep my luggage at the front desk while I looked for my colleague. He apologized for the poor condition of my room when I told him about it and informed me of the options I could have taken advantage of if I had chosen to do so. All the staff with which I interacted were very polite, very helpful and very knowledgeable.
Other than the condition of my guest room, the stay was very nice. My compliments to your cooking staff on a delicious lunch and tasty selections for your continental breakfast. I recommend you check the middle stall of the ladies' restroom across from the Metro Suite meeting room. The toilet seat was very loose. This restroom was kept very clean and neat. I was impressed that the toilets were cleaned not only in the evening but also at least once during the day....
