Generally I don't write reviews unless I really havea good reason to. This restaurant is a good reason. The food, the service, the ambience...fabulous. My niece and her three children and I were visiting Indianapolis and Smashburger was recommended to us for dinner. We stopped in and we're glad we did. This place is tucked away in the histoical district known as Irvington: quaint.
Even though this place is a restaurant , it has a real warm amd cozy atmosphere. It has a take out area and a dining room. The people, the service, the ambience:: GREAT. The food was FANTASTIC.
My niece ordered a double smashburger and sweet potato waffle fries. All the burgers are freshly grilled. She said the sandwich was fabulous. Grilled to perfection and the garlic aioli sauce made the sandwich perfect. She must not have known the waffle fries were sweet potatoes because she didn't think she like them. But these she absolutely loved! Her only suggestion is they might want to serve the sauce warm but she loved them. She ordered smashburgers and s.p waffle fries for the ( ages 3 and 9) and they surprisingly ate everything. They were pretty hefty servings too. Pretty good for a 3 year old. They even had a pineapple Dole Whip ice cream like dessert they loved too.
I am kind of a low calorie, low fat, healthy food nut that rarely eats sandwiches. I decided to order a salmon smashburger. No fries. Oh yeah. The salmonburger was out of this world! All the sandwiches are freshly grilled with a fantastic grilled either egg or potato bun. Hands down the best sandwich ever. The smashed salmon grilled perfectly. Perect taste and texture. You wouldn't know it is any type fish. It was just delicious. I could of eaten four of them. Instead I stopped in and ordered 2 more to go.
I have to give a shout out to Lisha, Brittany and Mikey (I think he is owner)....such terrific service and fun. We really appreciated it.
I forgot to mentiion ....there is another room off the dining rooms for over 21. It was pretty full and it appeared everyone was having a good time. They serve some beers and a few different wines.
I have nothing bad to say about this quaint neighborhood restaurant just great. I am glad I wrote...

Read moreHere's my problem: NOTHING IS SEASONED! Not the beef. Not the fries. The beef should have been salted at least an hour before cooking.or, within 2 minutes of cooking. But it had none. The fries were extremely bland. No seasoning..... not even salt! Also, fried were stale tasting. Popped into the air fryer. Now I get some crispyness, but still chewy like it's stale.
Even McDonald's has spices on their meat, even though the overpaid Burger flipper forgets to go up and grab the Shaker and give each Patty a shake after the hood comes up.
EDIT AFTER THEIR RESPONSE: It's frustrating when places say they're "letting the beef shine" as an excuse for under-seasoned food. Even the best quality meat needs proper seasoning to bring out its natural flavors. John Taffer or Gordon Ramsay would definitely have a few words for them—probably something along the lines of, "It doesn't matter how good your beef is if it’s bland!" A simple seasoning, like salt and pepper, enhances the meat, it doesn't hide it. Sounds like they need to get the basics down before bragging about...
